Returning after a hiatus of several years, I had a very different experience from before. Firstly I arrived to find the restaurant half full with remaining tables covered with dirty used crockery from previous guests. I then waited 15 minutes for my order to be taken. Having taken my order, another hour went by until my meal was delivered. More on that later. In the meantime I received my coffee but had to ask for a spoon. My guest waited and waited but did not receive her drink. When I asked for it, we were given a spiced chai latte not a vanilla latte as ordered. We were processing this when our meals arrived. Over the last nine years or so we have regularly visited here. Whilst the menu items have almost had no alterations, the quality, presentation and timing of the food have slowly over time, diminished. The pies were barely warm (our table had both the chicken and the beef) the mash potato was also cool. The chips were hot, but the salad on the plate consisted of a lump of iceberg lettuce, with cold dressed pasta (urk) and a few strands of beetroot/carrot. Totally lacking in flavour. Two cold coffees were delivered about a half hour after we ordered. The Sunday roast of pork, was generous, but overcooked vegetables and underseasoned meat made the meal totally bland. Overall, a disappointing me...

A lovely old house surrounded by beautiful gardens. Great service. Had breakfast which was, on the whole very nice! Great coffee. Only suggestion I could make is, please toast the bread, and maybe serve with sour dough instead of plain white bread

Had the high tea and it was ok. The lunch menu looked good and the cake display had some nice looking things in it, so might visit again when I'm going past next time and have lunch or morning tea.
