My wife and I went to Vivo last night. I'm generally very skeptical of Mexican food here in Oz because most restaurants cannot get the right ingredients or the cooks do not have the right background in the cuisine. Not so for Vivo! We had a simple meal of shredded beef nachos and I had a shredded pork burrito and they were delicious! They also had a homemade sauce which had a bit more smokey heat that was also very good. The sangria was ok. My wife did not like it and switched to normal glasses of wine. The restaurant is BYO, so next time we will do that. We will definitely be back. Plus, the restaurant is kid friendly, so we will be bringing our boys with us!

My husband and I went for a romantic dinner but the place was bustling with families... we hadn't been before so we didn't know. It was great to see they were so family orientated and next time we'll bring the kids. And there will be a 'next time'... the food was yum, big serves and filling. Didn't enjoy the sangria (I actually think it was made after we ordered it - so it tasted a bit young) but other than that it was extremely enjoyable.

This is not your typical mexican in that the food is more modern. The Nachos is my favourite of anywhere and really good portion size with plenty of yummy filling. The specials are always worth trying particularly anything to do with pork. The mex prawn cocktail is excellent and is worth sharing as its a good size. This restaurant is good value for money especially being byo. Even when you are finished and full you MUST HAVE CHURROS !

This is a local favourite of ours. Lots of fresh food and big flavours. Amazing sangria and lots of vegetarian options and choices for kids. We love spending birthdays here too - ask them about their skull birthday cakes. The staff are friendly and attentive - this is a hidden gem and well worth the trip away from main drag in Coogee Beach. I have read correctly that the average meal for 2 persons was $ 110 to ... this is a complete crock ...! This is on the most urgent prize projects I've heard for a long time ... We never pay over 50 dollars for 2 persons ... What a stupid estimate ... keeping even less sufficient, the food is sublime!

Pork enchiladas were in fact a burrito with literally a tablespoon of sauce poured on top. And hot lettuce? Yuck. Saw the waitress making my $14 margarita with fake lime mix. Stick to the fantastic corn on the cob! Still struggling to find good Mexican in Sydney.

Our second local favourite in Coogee. Small and cosy, with a surprisingly big selection of dishes and each one of them delicious. Our absolute favourite to start is the Mexican Fondue. Don't ask, have it :D

I regularly go for the nachos. They're a decent size and full of flavour. The extra hot sauce is not super hot but very tasty. They have happy hour from 5.30 and service is always fast. Book a table now
