Came up to Canberra for the weekend & visited Wild Duck on the Kingston Foreshore on Thursday night. Service was lovely - very welcoming and attentive. We ordered the Traditional Peking Duck for entree which was mouth watering - the duck was so tender and the hoisin sauce added that extra flavour. For mains we ordered the Kung Po Chicken & Pork Belly in Lotus Leaf. The Kung Po chicken was a simple but well-cooked dish. The macadamia nuts added texture and complimented the chicken. However, despite being promised a 'spicy Szechuan', it was very mild. The Pork Belly was cooked to perfection - falling apart - and the sticky rice matched beautifully and worked so well with the pork b...

A friend brought me to Wild Duck for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. The menu has significant variety at reasonable price points. The atmosphere is congenial, the service is efficient and friendly, and the food is high quality. My friend had the pork belly and I the Kung Po chicken. I expected the chicken to be spicier, but it did have good flavor. We began our mean with wagyu beef dumplings, which didn't seem to be up to par with the main course.
There can be many places (restaurants, hotels etc) that you can recommend to your friends, only to find the experience was completely different for them. This is due to chefs, staff etc. But at The Wild Duck, the quality of the food, the good service and support of Roger, was excellent. We had the Truffle degustation and the food was exquisite. This is one place you should visit on a trip to Canberra.
Ate at wild duck on a Wednesday after being recommended by a colleague. Was a quiet night... Food was ordinary at best. Beef salad was dry and tasteless, pork belly sloppy and tasteless, duck nothing special. Service was ok but the upselling by the waitress was so pushy it bordered on rude! All in all an ordinary experience from a pricey restaurant. Book a table now
Had dinner here last Saturday night. Excellent service throughout the night - polite and unobtrusive but we never lacked for anything. The food was fantastic - we had the banquet for two and it was almost perfect. Good drinks menu with local wines and priced reasonably well. Will definitely be going back here to try the other menu items.
This is a great restaurant if you want warmth, ambience, good service, interesting menu and conversation with your dining colleagues. There were only 4 tables occupied last night which was a Thursday and I'd guess this is due to the cost which is high. However if you want a quality experience, don't hesitate to come here.
Incredibly overpriced and ordinary. None of our $35 mains came with vegetables and the flavours were not particularly inspired. Small servings but we had leftovers of everything because it wasn't good enough to want more. Service was excellent but at $300 for 4 ( not including desert), could have done way better.
We went yesterday for a romantic night out. The service is exceptional and the food is absolutely delicious. Everything was amazing but that Chicken really made my night... wow. And please do order the five texture chocolate mousse. Book a table now
Have been here several times for business lunches, the venue is calm elegant and quiet. The food is presented beautifully and staff eager to please. Highly recommend the 'tofu three ways' - delicious! Great place to bring guests.
