Eating was easy, but okay, view is nice. Now to the bad: service was just terrible during our visit. Tables with dirty plates everywhere. When we placed on the order, they took our order and delivered the drinks during the leaving of the dirty plates of the last visitors on our table. We saw the staff who walked countless times from empty hand, looking directly at the tables and still not caring. The same thing happened on the table next to us. After a while, one of the women stood up at this table and began to bring the dirty plates to another table. In no time there was a waiter at her table who was very angry that they put the dirty plates on a “pure” table. (Who was not cleaned, only emp...
The restaurant was filled to overflowing when we visited during the week. We ordered the Alm-Nudelm and the currywurst and pommes (French fries) both of which were excellent.One thing we did notice was that several groups were constantly changing tables (as soon as a bigger or more comfortale table became available) and thus bringing the service staff into confusion. Whcih was hardly fair on them. We found the service was very fast in spite of the full crowds. This was about 14:30 in the afternoon.Overall very good Food and reasonably priced. Avoid visiting at this time of day though if you can. Even 20 minutes later the mad rush was already easing off.
We took the ski lift to the top just to have a look around on a clear day. The view across the Harz mountains was magnificent. The Brocken was clearly visble amongst other things. Whilst there we ate in the restaurant and the food and drink we had was excellent. The goulash soup (a favourite) was one of the best we've ever had. Service was friendly and quick and the whole place had a good feel about it.

The restaurant can be crowded on a Easter Friday but the service was very good and atmosphere was great. Good solid food after a long walk. Some people walk up or down, but be in good condition if you take the direct way up. In winter time this is excellent for skiing as well.

This place is tired and looks like it hasn't had any of its facilities updated since the 70s. A little TLC by the management would go a long way to providing visitors with a better experience. Luckily, the views from the mountain enable you to forget about this quite quickly!
