Yat Bun Tong calls it self a Dumpling House and they do it well. One can watch the ladies making the dumplings in the front window. Generous serves arrive in steaming bamboo baskets. However this restaurants also offer full meals and they are delicious. We...sampled a basket of dumplings, plus three meals and they were all way above average. The crispy fried chilli beef was a standout. Not often available in other estaurants this dish is my favourite. If you are looking for top quality Chinese fare with a different menu drop by. Mothers day lunch with wife, daughter and surprise visit by brother in law, all started well, dumplings wonderful, laksa great, fried rice not bad, salt and pepper squid delightful, we also ordered BBQ pork chops....mmmmm waiting waiting waiting, asked the staff of the eta? mmmm? eventually the BBQ chop arrived! looked like 1 chop cut into 6 pieces, it was nice though considering the wait we thought that the quantity would have been more... Anyway nice food, unusual though polite service.

Just had lunch today with friends from Canberra, this was their first time here, but our third. As usual the steamed pork dumplings were fantastic to start. Next was the duck, fish and beef dishes. All were well prepared, presented and plentiful. Superb tasting dishes with some of the fluffy rice we always expect and get here. Well priced, try the Chinese beer. Very tasty.
We visited this restaurant as a group of five at a busy time and were most impressed by the courteous service.Great atmosphere.Five different items were ordered and all were very generous, tasty and reasonably priced.I would be more than happy to return here to sample other dishes from the very extensive menu.
My husband and I had dinner on Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy.We didn't have a booking which wasn't a problem. Staff friendly and efficient. Our meal arrived quickly and was delicious Recommend the fried dumplings and Satay Chicken. Prices reasonable.Will revisit when next in Canberra.
Holidaying in Canberra and wanted to find a authentic Chinese restaurant. Nearby our hotel, I found this restaurant. The pork and chive dumplings were delicious. Also enjoyed the Peking Duck. This restaurant is busy during dinner time. Will return again.
