I recently came here with a new friend of mine who raved about this place and encouraged me to try it with him while he was in town. Needless to say, I had a great experience for my first time!I read some Google reviews ahead of time along with other people's recommendations (while looking at the menu). I will say their sushi is AMAZING and did not disappoint. We ordered all types of sushi but I would highly recommend the Boston roll, Philadelphia roll and the Alaska roll (since those were my personal favorites). During my latest visit, we were promptly seated, but we had to request our menus after about ten minutes. Unfortunately, it took three tries for my appetizer to arrive correctly, likely due to a mix-up with a similar dish.
Overall, I'm willing to return now that I know what to expect. However, I can't help but feel disappointed with the service. We've encountered different waitstaff each time, so it's not just one person who is at fault. It might be a training issue or some sort of kitchen problem.
I'm remaining optimistic about future visits in hopes that things will get better because the food is truly delicious, and the restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere.
Not far from the busy intersection of 101 and highway 17, you can find authentic Japanese food in a low key strip mall; the menu, especially all day happy hour menu is both extensive and affordable; either family meals or going out with a group of friends, this place provides excellent menu choices; the calamari rings look like onion rings, with chewy texture and taste of ocean; flavored shochu is great; however, the other drink we ordered sake bomb is not that great; the combination of cold beer with warm sake is weird (and all other places I visited, use cold sake).
Without a doubt, this is the best sushi we've found in the Phoenix area! I highly suggest going during happy hour at 8 PM and trying the Crazy Boy roll along with the vegetable gyoza. I can't stress enough how incredible the Crazy Boy roll is; if you can look past the fact that it's fried sushi, it will completely change your perspective. Another favorite of mine is the Alaska Roll. Overall, everything is fresh, and the service is exceptional. I wholeheartedly recommend Yen Sushi!

*Best Japanese ive had in PhoenixI was super surprised to find such a great authentic Japanese Restaurant in Phoenix. Everything was really delicious and they had a very extensive menu, anyone could find something to love on. Bonus points in my book for the fresh wasabi root on demand. Service was very attentive and friendly. HUGE value on the lunch menu. I look forward to returning soon.
I absolutely love this local restaurant! To start, the prices are quite reasonable. They have a diverse menu with plenty of options. The sushi is fresh and tasty, the place is immaculate, and the service is top-notch. The staff is friendly and always attentive to the diners. I've never had such a friendly host and server before. They were just so respectful and honest! The atmosphere was beautiful and really cozy. The food was delicious, even the leftovers the following day were enjoyable. I liked how I could watch the chefs make the sushi and set it up on the bar.
I would like to thank you for accommodating my shellfish allergy and allowing me to customize a roll by substituting salmon for the shellfish. This was the first time I truly loved a sushi roll that I could enjoy, and I ate the entire roll myself! Food: 5/5

Wow! Wow! Wow! We’re here right now for the first time and this place is amazing! These rolls are some of the best we’ve ever had! The vibe is dim and chill. Vincent, our waiter gave us over the top service. We highly recommend and can’t wait to return.
