Unfortunately, the hot braised pork disappointed me. I was expecting tender pork that had been simmered in a flavorful sauce, but instead, the dish was heavily fried in thick, dense dough. The pieces of pork were so small that they got lost in the overwhelming coating. Additionally, the dough absorbed most of the sauce, which didn't seem like much to begin with, so I couldn't taste it over the oily flavor. I recently ordered takeout from this restaurant, specifically two lunch specials. Unfortunately, one of the meals had a maggot in it (see photo below). Naturally, this was extremely off-putting, and we decided not to eat any more of our food. I returned to the restaurant to address the issue, and while they refunded me for one meal, they refused to refund the second one, claiming it was acceptable since it didn’t have any vegetables. I really don’t care about the contents of that second meal; the presence of a maggot in the kitchen made me lose all trust in their food safety. It’s simply disgusting. We've been ordering from this restaurant for a few weeks now, and I usually get the sweet and sour chicken. My husband enjoys this place, but I've noticed that the chicken pieces are quite small and heavily breaded, which means you mostly get breading with just a little bit of chicken. Tonight, however, was disappointing—less than 25% of my portion had any chicken in it. It felt like they must have run out and just fried extra breading instead. I'm extremely unhappy with this experience, and we won't be coming back.
The worst ever! It was left over rice and small white chicken pieces added, coarse! Beef and pepper were NOT to eat the beef! The fried pot stickers, I think could have been frozen. I never complain, but that was a very disappointing meal! I used to order from Zang Chi, found another Chinese restaurant Hunan Empress next to Brunswick Bowling on Olive, they were closed on Tuesday.

Zang Chi offers the best Chinese food we've found near West County; it's absolutely worth the 25-minute drive. The portion sizes are ample, the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes incredibly fresh. I've never encountered vegetable fried rice with such a wealth of fresh vegetables!
Zang Chi is a fantastic gem near Old NYC, just as one would hope. I always find it to be a warm and welcoming place, and the menu certainly met my expectations. They are even accommodating enough to substitute a vegetable if you prefer a different one.

The BEST Chinese food that we've found near West county. Very much worth the 25 minute drive. Large portions, affordable price and SO fresh. Never had vegetable fried rice with so many fresh veggies.

I got a order of general toas chicken and fried potstickers the same night I left this review chicken was rubbery and unediable and pot stickers were not fried and basically I thru everything out.
The food was very good. This place had a nice and peaceful atmosphere, and the location is convenient and safe.
