We visited the Kluse restaurant on Sunday for lunch following a couple of succesful visits good food, nice atmosphere. We hadn't booked a table, it was warm and we were told that we could sit outside which was pleasant and they provide fleece blankets if...you feel the cold. My husband ordered a pork schnitzel which was okay, I had ordered a salad which sounded better on the menu than it looked on the plate when it eventually arrived: it was a mixture of salad, lots of corn on the cob tasteless, salad trimmings, far too much sauce which had gathered at the bottom of the plate which was decorated with large potato wedges. I went there with my family in August. The weather was great so we chose a table outside. It was a busy evening but there were still some open tables. We waited 16 minutes till the waitress came to our table for the first time. Since it was a busy sunday they only offered a limited menu with around 8 or 9 dishes. Once our drinks were served the waitress spilled beer all over my brother's pants - and she didn't even apologize! We waited on our food for 1 hour and 32 minutes - without prior notice - and the food was not that tasty. Especially the schnitzel was a big disappointment. I've been here twice and it's a lovely place. Modern décor with a vibrant atmosphere. Good food selection including typical German fare. Staff are friendly and speak reasonable English although they do not have English menus. It's probably worth booking to ensure you get a table. Travel time by car is about 15 minutes from central Essen.
Beautiful scenery and location. The restaurant is situated in an old House with the typical structure for NRW. The kitchen is great, very traditional German kitchen with a creative touch.
