I came to this place today because I have been have been craving for Indonesian food for a while. This review is not to throw shade at the cuisine but to this place. I ordered the Nasi Padang and wasn't disappointed except for their chicken curry in the Nasi Padang. I was disappointed because as soon as I split the chicken from the bone, it smelled really bad! The chicken was not fresh! Coming from a culture that doesn't like to waste food, I still took a stab at it and to be honest, the chicken was horrible! It tasted and looked like the chicken was rotting away and they still decided to cook it. Talk about food safety. I could've gotten sick from it. Very disappointed in what I came out he...

I dined quite a few times at Banana Leaf, an Indonesian restaurant located in Temple City. The food at Banana Leaf was absolutely incredible. I started with the gado-gado, a traditional Indonesian salad with peanut sauce that was bursting with flavor. For my entree, I ordered mie jawa, a classic Indonesian fried noodle dish, but I substituted the noodle with rice noodles. It was prepared perfectly, with just the right balance of spice and savory flavors. I highly recommend Banana Leaf to anyone looking for an authentic Indonesian dining experience in Temple City. I always bring my friends who come to visit from out of town.
The food at this restaurant was excellent the first time I went, but the service was not up to par. The waitress took our food order but did not ask about drinks. After a long wait, I had to get up and find her to order drinks. When our food arrived, I had to wait for her to check on us and bring sambal. The service was not as attentive as my first visit, when the owner or manager provided excellent hospitality. Despite the service issues, I would return for the good food, with the hope that the service improves.
The restaurant offers the best food for those who are feeling homesick for their Indonesian roots. I appreciate the generous portion sizes of each meal. Being from Indonesia myself, I enjoy spicy food and was pleased with the amount of spicy chili they provided (which made me want to order again). Overall, the food here is perfect for anyone with dietary restrictions longing for a taste of home. Book a table now
Having grown up in the lowlands, we are accustomed to eating Indonesian cuisine. However, this restaurant is the best my mother and I have ever tried. The aromatic peanut sauce for the dates and the gadot gadot left us eager to order again this week.
Banana Leaf is consistently one of our top dining choices in the San Gabriel Valley, a hotspot for Asian cuisine. The Indonesian dishes are not only delicious, but at Banana Leaf they are expertly executed and consistently flavorful.
This is the best Indonesian restaurant in Los Angeles. The flavors are authentic and remind me of home in Jakarta. I visit Indonesia frequently, so I can attest to the quality of this restaurant. I highly recommend it!
Another option if you crave for Indonesian Food around LA area. The taste and portion are good, along with the price. Recommended to try!Food: 4/5 Book a table now
I always love coming here. The Jakarta style crunchy chicken and the smashed tilapia fish is always a go to. Their tamarind soup is so good!
