I went to the Home Depot area in El Cerrito during lunch break from a jury duty for a quick bite. I was looking for a place to eat. Instead, I found a Thai restaurant called Banana Leaf Thai Cuisine. So I decided to check it out. Since, I didn't have much time, I just ordered one of my favorite appetizers, chicken satay. The order was served with good size chicken skewers portion that came with a tiny side of cucumber salad. The chickens were surprisingly tender and not dry. Its tasty with just enough seasoning. I give a 5-star rating to the green curry with dampened white rice. The Thin-noodle-Pad Thai with prawns also receives 5 stars. The papaya salad in a piquant dressing is rated 4 stars. I enjoyed a cold Singha beer to accompany my meal. The waiting staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The parking area is small but sufficient, with easy access from the street (San Pablo). The restaurant is barrier-free, with direct access from the ground floor to the parking lot.
This restaurant is family owned and has been a favorite of ours for years. We decided to come back recently to try their fried tofu after calling ahead to see if they had it available. We also ordered the green chicken curry with basil rice. The dishes were flavorful and the portion sizes were good. The service was attentive and there was plenty of parking available.
Food was good it was our first time here.Had a pumpkin curry soup level 2 on spice and added pork. It was good but I didn't realize it had coconut milk. Which my spouse doesn't like so I had to eat it. Which was fine. Price is ok. Service was slow but they had only two servers and the place was pretty packed.

Love love love this restaurant. New to the area and this is an instant favorite. Have gotten food here many times now and it’s always super delicious. I like that they let you customize spiciness. Tom yom soup is a must, and so is the papaya salad. Everything I’ve tried are delicious.
Our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Usually only do take out. All the usual dishes are excellent. Legit and real Thai food. Make sure to get the spicy papaya salad and the mango sticky rice dessert.
