My husband and I have recently moved from the UK to Essen and we think we have found a gem in this restaurant and its staff. We had booked a table for an early dinner on a Saturday evening and were the restaurants first customers of the night. We were greeted warmly by the chef who once he realised our German was not exactly fluent, switched to almost perfect English. He asked if we had any dislikes or food allergies and when we confirmed we were happy to try anything, he asked if we would be happy with the chefs choices. This turned out to be an excellent idea. We visited Bliss last night for what turned out to be an excellent meal. Head chef Sacha and his staff were very attentive and we left the food selection to him. .......and each course from tuna tartar, zander with black pudding, lobster with pack choi, veal with caramelised onion and celeriac puree to the chocolate fondant desert were wonderfully cooked and presented and Sacha explained every dish to us in person.And. ......who knew that you could get a German Sauvignon Blanc? We were offered a taste before buying and were simply blown away by the quality of the Henselwein......the only down side was that we had the last bottle! Nice restaurant. Choice from bar seats and tables. Vary kind of food are served: fish, meat, vegetarian, but also main, second courses and desserts. Quality is good and service is quick and kind. Price not expensive. Tapas in Spain are different (many many different little plates of food; here the concept is modified, serving bigger plates but keeping the variety. I suggest this restaurant for informal dinners.
We had a fish tapas and a meat tapas here. Food was okay, though some parts of the meat dishes were a bit on the fatty side, but not really a problem. The main issue was that one the waitresses bothered us every 3 minutes with questions, adding wine to glasses, reorganising dishes and so forth. Truely annoying! Another waitress was ok, just to be sure.Wine very expensive: 9E for just 0,25 liter.

I really used to love Tapas but having revisited Spain again last year I realised it was really not very healthy food and was somewhat put off... so I was pleasantly surprised to find Bliss. They serve really tasty and healthy Tapas with the Chef's own twist, really fabulous and highly recommend it. Not only is the food fab but also the décor and service. Will be back again soon!!
We visited the restaurant for a birthday and ordered a good share of vegetarian and a few ones with fish and meat. We were delighted with the flavourful dips and seasoning of the different dishes. They also have a backyard for the warmer days. I strongly recommend the tuna on wakame, which is my absolute favourite though not a typical tapas dish.
Went there for tappas dinner with a friend who'd been there before. We asked them for a the special tapas menu. They asked if we had any food alergies, things to avoid and after this "check" - the adventure started. Wonderful service, outstanding food. Definitely a place to recommend to others hands down.
Great service. But the have move to a new location. Call first to get the right adress. Wonder full service and great dices. Please have time it can take a little bit time before the food arrive

I'm having a lunch there occasionally, friendly service sufficient choice on a lunch menu. Prices slightly above average, quality as well.
We were three, and had 3 different courses. All were great. Service was attentive and efficient. The meat was particularly good.
