Genuine unpretentious Shanghainese food-where the locals go. It might lack the glitz and glamour of its neighbours along and across the road, but good value and quality. The pan seared buns are one of the best with high scalding factor- yum but be careful- wait a bit or punch a small hole in the top to suck the soup out. Xiao lung baos also great. Love the radish cakes, salubriously but nicely termed radish croissants by their competitors across the road. Pumpkin buns for dessert. To those in the know, the Chinese name is based on one of the most famous restaurants in pre-war Shanghai.

There are many Shanghai restaurants in Ashfield, this is one of the old favourites.Gone are the old menus on the wall, now we see colourful photos of dishes on lighted background. It is "modernised" and seemingly cleaner, hygienic and more welcoming, Thankfully, the food is till yummy, they offer a good variety of authentic traditional Shanghai dishes whether eat in or take away. The shaio lung pow and seng chian pow compares well with some of the more famous franchised branded places, but at a lower $$.If you are adventurous, try the typical eel noodles, pig's ears, smoked fish

I was born and raised in Shanghai but have been away from that city for 9 years. This is the only place in Ashfield that does authentic Shanghai food, just like the way my gradma made!!! Try their clay pot wonton, that's even better than my nanna's! Also recommend steamed buns, fried Shanghainese buns, red stewed pork ribs(can't remember the proper name but it is a cold dish u can see from their display window). Shanghai soy duck is also a killer!!!! Love love love!!!!

After years of exploring the Chinese options in Sydney, I've found that Chinese restaurant for keeps. Love this place. I've lived in China and some dishes you won't find anywhere else in Sydney. Everything I've tried is to be repeated and even accepted, as mainstays - the food and service is that good. Book a table now

My uncle who lives in Ashfield really enjoys this restaurant, so much so that we visited twice in one week. And I can see why.
