Was really looking forward to trying out this place, but was so disappointed. $48.08 lighter in the wallet, and didn 't even want to finish the meal. We both tried The Big Papa . BBQ beans sounded good as a side, but honestly I think they were VanCamp pork and beans out of a can. The brisket was ok, but the ribs were tough, tasted almost burnt, and the sparingly applied BBQ sauce tasted like something off the shelf at a local store. No refill was ever offered for my drink, even though it was already empty when the food came, and when we were done eating what we could, I had to walk up to the counter to get the attention of one of the guys working that I was ready to pay. Still had to wait se...

I really enjoyed my visit to Crosstown. I ordered the burnt ends spicy, with coleslaw and fries. Also an appetizer. The appetizer was my favorite part. The catfish was good, while the tartar sauce was great. The onion rings were my favorite anywhere. The coleslaw was sweet and very good. The fries were ok. The burnt ends lacked the heat I was expecting and could use a bit more smoke. The regular sauce is probably more balanced in flavors, from what other patrons were saying. It was good for KC style barbecue in Springfield. The service was very good. The waiter was enthusiastic, knew what he was talking about, friendly, and attentive. I'll go back and try some ribs next time I'm in the area....
Ok, I 'm telling ya ' this place isn 't a knocking out great/solid BBQ every visit (these) days! And the catfish (pictured), is always a real winner! Chris in the kitchen, has made this place so very very consistent. But beyond that fact, his cook on the meats they are spot on times 10! The brisket as example, cooked perfectly and passes the pull apart test. But the moisture in the brisket....so so hard to achieve. Chris is mailing this aspect; every visit I make to Crosstown. I tip my proverbial hat to Chris! And owner Steve: Many thanks for finding Chris and having him carry your BBQ tradition forward!
Not just the worst BBQ I have ever had, but the worst meal I 've ever had. They slice their brisket paper thin with a deli slicer (who does this? Its kept in open tubs and then microwaved. They slap some bad vinegar sauce over it to cover up the atrocity on the plate. Their homemade potato salad was clearly from the local dollar general store. Their beans were so sweet and sour that they were just inedible. This place has all the looks to make you think you are going to get something amazing....and then they serve up some microwaved deli meats. This was below gas station food. Book a table now
My husband had the big papa I think I had the Nana ... the minute we walked in we could smell the smoked meat and our bellies were screaming. Took us a bit to decide cuz there was multiple choices we wanted and couldn't decide. The food was great.. I LOVED the brisket the potato salad!! They were really nice and we had a great meal. We both remembered the old commercial but had never tried the food there.. but we're glad we did today while in Springfield. It's easy to see how they're celebrating so many years with good bbq like that. Highly recommend
Well. I had high hopes of this place with all the rewards from the past and the reviews. The only good thing about this place was our waitress. She was great. Now to the food. I ordered brisket, ribs, and burnt ends. The food was so overcooked or reheated that it was like jerky. The absolute worst bbq I've ever had. Every piece of meat was tough like jerky. It was a complete waste of money. I'm really not sure how a place could serve what I had. Really hoped it was gonna be great.
Crosstown BBQ has the best barbecue in SW Missouri. I love my BBQ and try to eat it where ever I’m at. I’ve always loved the Brisket with cheese sauce on it is simply amazing. The owner has his own BBQ that should sold in stores. They have a food trailer on Campbell where the owner was at tonight. This place needs to be recognized.Parking: Free and big areaWheelchair accessibility: Plenty of parking for wheelchairs or other handicapped vehicles.
Went in there after moving stuff to get my barbecue cravings satisfied and it did not disappoint! They were all very kind and recommended the Bluto with spicy sauce since I couldn’t make up my mind from the menu lol. Some of the best barbecue I’ve had yet! I devoured it so fast I didn’t get a picture. Will come back again for more! Book a table now
