Arrived at Dixy 's for 5pm, their opening time, still closed at 5 past 5, knocked 3 times to try and ask why they were still closed, eventually a staff member came out and shouted that they weren 't open yet and went straight back in before I could respond. They did open at 10 minutes past 5, but had very little chicken ready for sale, even the drinks chiller was less than half full and lacking several drinks they used to have under previous management. Firstly, I need to state that I admit that I have some very strong feelings about fried chicken. I am addicted to it and I seek it out whenever I can. When it is prepared, seasoned and cooked well it elicits emotional responses within me as I bite into it....desire...joy... satisfaction. Proper fried chicken truly can be uplifting experience. I have visited Dixy Chicken on a few occasions, and they did manage to trigger some emotions, unfortunately the emotions are anger, confusion and unhappiness! Went in on a Tuesday to buy food, a couple of meals and was told we'd need to wait 25 minutes. I asked what they had ready and they had a couple of wings and a portion. I was prepared to eat the wings as part of the meal I was about to wait for but they wanted to price individually, This is 2 minutes from my home so I suggested maybe they could deliver they said they wanted money to deliver. Fast food wait 25 minutes but can't bring it to me 200m away? In the time it took for me to walk out another customer came in and left without buying. The food might be good but the customer service is shabby.
Me and my partner came here recently after hearing that Dixy Chicken was under new management and all I can say is wow. The food was cooked to perfection, the service was quick, everything was cooked fresh, the place was very clean and the staff were so friendly. We even came again the next day because of how happy we were with the service. Looking forward to our next visit, thank you!

They DO NOT change the oil they use, food tasted disgusting! Such a shame as i love the west road dixy the food is alway fresh and tastes lovely. Also they make the rolo wrap really nice there. DO NOT RECOMMEND the whitley bay one!
New owner has brought the place back to life. Neat and Clean. Chicken was just right and portion was size was also good. Will definitely visit again
