We have been wanting German food for a while and decided to give this a try. The restaurant definitely gives you a German feel when you arrive. Nice little outdoor beer garden if it's nice out. Nice selection of German beers on draft. I ordered the four beer flight. It was good but the server didn't tell me what beer was what. Other than that the server was very nice and did a good job. We were disappointed with the food however. We ordered the pretzel and it was big and good. Perfect to share for a few people. The entrees were the most disappointing part. The best item was the veal schnitzel and the red cabbage. Good amount of food and cooked perfect. The house special Sweinhaxe was big but...

First visit to Edelweiss, unfortunately the evening ended on a sour note. The vegetable of the day, per the waitress, was Brussel Sprouts. Order was placed to include sprouts. Dinner arrived and the sprouts were black on most, actually burnt. Requested a new order. Waitress did so and came back to tell me she was told that is how the sprouts are cooked. Requested a manager and ERIC, a chef appeared (couldn't get a last name as waitress said no one employed there knows last names). ERIC was very arrogant and condescending. Told me they were roasted spouts and that they were just fine. He picked one up to expose the core and inner leaves, which wasn't the point. The entire spout tasted burnt n...

We went to have Schweinehaxe/Eisbein/pork shank. While the price for the 2-3lbs menu item was $7 higher than it is advertised on the website, the food was marvelous and worth it. The shank was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside; so good... The sauerkraut, potatoes and red cabbage were also very good. The weissbier on tap was the unfiltered tupe, which is already my favorite, but the taste exceeded my expectations. Again, soooo good. Our waiter was friendly and his service was Our meal was ready within the expected time, just as e were finishing up with the soup of the day. The German band completed the atmosphere with good old classic German and Austrian music, yodeling and a perfo...

We celebrated a birthday at our annual October fest dinner with my granddaughters, and it was a wonderful experience! The food was outstanding, and the portions were generous. The atmosphere was enhanced by great music, with musicians strolling around playing the accordion, horns, and even Alpine horns. They even took a moment to sing Happy Birthday to my granddaughter, which was a lovely touch. Our server, Dennis, was fantastic! He was not only efficient and attentive but also an incredibly personable young man who kept us laughing throughout the evening. Book a table now

The restaurant has a delightful atmosphere and offers delicious food with generous portions. However, I found the prices to be a bit on the high side. The staff was very attentive and helpful throughout our visit. Overall, it's a fantastic place that I would rate a perfect 10/10 if the prices were about 15% lower. Service: Dine-in Meal type: Lunch

It's essentially the only place around that offers this type of cuisine, so I'm giving it 4 stars to help ensure it remains in business, unlike the other German restaurants that have disappeared from the 100-square-mile area of Chicago.

This restaurant offers great local German cuisine on the northwest side. The red cabbage is excellent, and the pork schnitzel is both moist and flavorful. The pâté is also really delicious. Book a table now
