This is a review on Gelato Messina’s Dessert Bar where they do the degustation menu and every course has a frozen component. Even the savoury courses. <br/ <br/ I didn’t know what to expect but by the end of the degustation I was blown away. It’s ingenious, creative, experimental, immersive and there is nothing else like it in Sydney. Every course was a flavour sensation and well worth the value of $130 which included matching non-alcoholic drinks. There is an option to upgrade to alcoholic drinks for $50 extra.<br/ <br/ It’s an intimate space where the guests are encouraged to go into the kitchen and watch the two chefs at work. Every course was explained in detail by one of the chefs.<br/...

It's where it all started from the Australian ice cream revolution and the wide ranging flavours all made on site (apple pie custard ice cream, anyone? . It's a surprisingly small outlet for Messina and seems to have less flavours on display than, for example, the Smith St shop in Melbourne. And whilst to my mind Messina has been surpassed (in Melbourne at least , it's still great ice cream particularly blood orange with vanilla (sadly they had no pistachio .

When you think of gelato Messina is perhaps the first thing that comes to mind. However, Messina's Creative Department is something a little unfamiliar to many people. This is not scoops of Messina gelato on a plate. Rather it's a gelato degustation bringing an unusual dinning experience that's never seen before. It's a sweet journey using bold flavours and creative combinations that challenge your taste buds.

Got a tub with three flavors. Nicky glasses (which is a combination of two of my favorite things; coffee and salted caramel) , Milk Chocolate with choc peanut fudge, and Chocolate Mint (it didn't taste like processed mint mouth fresheners but rather like real mint leaves which was a first for me tasting mint leaves in an  ice cream) Absolutely loved it. Greta spot for gelato with a good variety of ice cream flavours. I would definitely recommend trying out the limited edition flavours since I had one and that was unforgettable. A nice spot to hang around after dinner at night.

YUM!! The Pistachio praline is to die for!! Crunchy with fresh pistachios, and packed with pistachio flavour. Completely outshone the other flavour I got Chocolate with Peanut Butter Fudge.
