Acting on a recommendation, we have been using George's Fish Bar during the Covid 19 lockdown period for a fish and chip meal as a Friday night treat. We place our orders via an internet based takeaway facilitator and have done so at all times of the day. All orders were delivered to our home address and we found that apart from one occasion, the estimated delivery times were always very accurate. Typically, we order multiples of Fish Chip dishes and these are always well cooked, fresh, and with a good sized portion of chips. We tend to order the chips with no salt or vinegar choosing to add this at home as we believe that otherwise it soaks into the meal. We would certainly recommend George...
Drove from Norwich to visit family and popped in here to get our supper after a recommendation from a friend. We ordered 2 large cod and chips and a medium cod WOW!! The large cod made the dinner plate look like a side plate it was so big, and one portion of the large chips would have fed 3 of us. Needless to say there were loads of chips left over. The batter was fantastic not greasy at all and crispy to the last bite. You could teach the chippies in Norwich a thing or two! I'm not a big fan of fish n chips but if I moved back to Walderslade I would be ordering from here every week.
Ordered a meat and chips, and politely asked that they wrap the chips up separately (because I don’t like soggy chips). Simple request. For some weird reason unknown to me they acted like I’d asked them for a kidney, spoke to me like absolute dirt, then insisted I pay £2 extra for them to do it. I agreed but then they didn’t bother doing it anyway. Clearly they don’t understand the value of good customer service. Could have had £1000 a year out of me easy but will now get nothing as I’ll take my custom elsewhere. Pathetic.
Went there after picking kids up from school so was about 3.20pm we ordered meat and chips and a small burger. The burger was so well done it was crusty right round the edge and the chips had been cooked a few times they was mostly dark brown to the point we picked out the odd white chips but the rest had to go in the bin. Along with the burger. I’ve been using this chip shop for best part of 20yrs and this was the worst we’ve ever had from there. We will NOT be eating from there ever again

I 've been to George 's countless times over the last few years. Nothing to really complain about. Much better than my more local one! The food is always nice and its good to able to choose from kebab or fish and chips. I went to pizza palace or whatever its called now round by spar and both me and my boyfriend got food poisoning but never had that at George 's. Nice food!
Absolutely horrid, I’ve never had something so disgusting in my life , there was hair in my food, my kebab was raw and the chips was undercooked and looked to have mould on them, It was absolutely revolting, they was rude and snappy and tried to charge me extra. I would not recommend
Great fish and chips and friendly staff. Highly recommended. They used to do a really nice curry and rice, would like to see that come back : Parking out front.
Kebabs aren’t the best value for money unless you get the big tray meal, the fish on the other hand, haddock the length of your arm and always quick to deliver!
