Located in the same building that houses Paramount Coffee , inside Paramount House is the Golden Age Bar – it adjoins a cinema called the Golden Age Cinema and as an extension of that, a lot of the cocktail are movie themed/named and there’s sweeping curtains that form the backdrop to this rather intimate small bar in surry hills. I booked a table on the day when we arrived we were greeted with a problem, as there was a glitch in their booking system. Their was not table for us. There was no food on offer as the Chef was sick. So we just sat near the stairwell. The staff tried to help but they were limited. For me and my partner we heard good things about the venue and cleared time, we travelled quite a long distance to get to the venue and organised a baby sitter. So it was a disappointment.
Loud, boisterous, our table had my reservation on it but a couple seated there I had to remove. Mocktails pre mixed and awful. Food unremarkable. Ordered popcorn to come with final drinks. It was cold and chewy. Sent it back, was not offered a refund. Bar staff distracted with each other dancing around behind the bar. I used to come here and found it elegant. Things have changed for the worse.
I had a friend’s birthday at the Golden Age Cinema Bar last night and what a hoot it was. They have a great wine and cocktails menu and the food menu for the cinema is pretty decent with flavoured popcorn, olives, toasties, cheese and charcuterie boards. It’s definitely a different and fun way to celebrate a birthday. #goldenagecinema #surryhills

Love this bar. Did a bottle of bubbles before we headed to a restaurant for dinner. Bought some popcorn but it ended up being all unpopped kernals so showed the staff and they apologised and gave us a bag of chips to compensate. The staff are amazing and the venue is perfect for intimate get togethers or a date!
A bar based on the movie theater theme. Starters, for example, were popcorns of different flavors, we order two different types of popcorns, with drinks. For a large group of 7/8 people the service was good. It's a bit pricy but can be an option if you're bar hopping.
Hi great venue and staff didnt realise there was no food until 5pm. and our booking at 245... no prob we just ordered from upstair and bar were happy for us to eat at the table. Movie was great.
Very nice bar with an classy and welcoming environment. Would be good for a party as its a good size. The drinks choices are good and the staff are friendly
