A friend & I got dropped off at Salamanca Place by taxi after a big day of attending a conference at the Wrest Point Casino. We stumbled across this place on the way to our accommodation. I love a good mulled wine, these guys know how to make a heart warming one. The bar staff kindly accommodated a half serve for a friend who hadn't tried a mulled wine before as she doesn't usually enjoy a red wine....she quite liked it. It was so nice I went back for a second one. The only tip I would have is for staff at the bar to have some decent orange peel at the ready in the front bar so they don't have to go looking for oranges in the kitchen and then get the peel off the orange.......meanwhile my mu...
So the pub where we had planned to do dinner tonight proved to be quite disappointing and nothing like anticipated from reviews online, (highly over-rated in Battery Point), so we decided to look for somewhere else on the fly which can be difficult because I have food allergies. So after some fruitless searching online, (because we didn't want to go far), we decided to wander down to Salamanca Pl and take 'pot luck'. We pretty much just picked the first place we found advertising gluten free options but it proved to be golden: the menu was creative, the food delicious, the wine list extensive, (and my friend can attest to the excellence of the mulled wine), and the wait staff affable and hel...
Chickenburger was excellent - the conservative amount of Chili jam was added exactly the right amount of Zing added. And the chips, Oh, the chips! So delicious! Perfectly cooked! Unnecessarily to say, I cleaned my plate, and although I was very busy afterwards, I was a bit sad to be ready.
Grief
The wine list is extensive and the inclusion of tasting notes takes away the rates game and make this place a pleasure to drink.
We have made a point of the sightseeing group whenever we are in Hobart, and over the years they have proven themselves with a wide selection of wines and a happy knowledgeable staff. Still busy, which is always a good sign. The only downside, though no damage to the visit, is the quality of meals that has slipped the quality, although there is a good selection to choose from.

Really enjoyed the vibe at this wine bar. Bar tenders fun. Mulled wine delicious and the food was great and reasonably priced. We reserved a bar table and our table was ready for us on arrival. Live music was good maybe a touch loud. Great night out
They stuffed our order, but were very previously in a free beverage lesson. That's how it should be. Nice work!
Lamb pizza was the bomb. Shoe cord fries with aioli were nombar. Cheese crucifiers were rude; Oral joy!
We had mulled wine and lamb ribs. The mulled wine was like cake in a glass it was so sweet and spicy and delicious but the lamb ribs were even better. I licked the plate and wasn't ashamed. Highly highly recommended.
