I received a Money mailer coupon for the Hermosa Beach Yacht Club that had a special on Monday of 1/4 pound bacon blue cheese burger with fries for $5. I 've had the burger before and it was not bad (not as good As Ercoles but still not bad). Decided to try it last Monday and what an awful experience. We arrived at 5 pm when the bar was supposed to be open. They kept us outside for 15 minutes while the till cash was counted. If the place was supposed to open at 5 pm, the till should have already been counted so that customers did not have to wait outside for 15 minutes. We ordered 2 burgers medium. The Hermosa Beach Yacht Club (HBYC) is exactly what you should expect Hermosa Beach 's Yacht Club to be like considering Hermosa Beach doesn 't have a marina to be docking any Yachts. Don’t be misled by the name. There are no yachts in sight, and I doubt any of the patrons have ever been on one, let alone own one (myself included). This place is your classic dive bar. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was cited in the definition of a dive bar. Fortunately, I knew this going in, so I wasn’t let down like some other reviewers. However, if you think “dive bar” means inexpensive, you might end up disappointed. After all, it is Hermosa Beach, and two schooners (which are quite large, to be fair) of Pacifico beer along with a glass of red wine (only one option available, a blend) set us back $31 (before tip).
Even though it was a slow night, I met another frequent visitor who shared his experiences as a long-time patron. After hearing about the benefits of being a member, I’m definitely considering returning and joining in the future. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, I highly recommend checking this spot out! The beer is good, the prices are reasonable, and the glasses are quite stylish. Plus, they even have a little video game at the bar for those who want to have some fun while they sip.
This spot is the real deal. It's a local dive bar that doesn't hold back on character. Sure, it might be a bit rough around the edges, kind of smelly, and definitely a place where some mischief-makers hang out, but that's part of its charm. The food is fantastic! Leanna, the owner's daughter, has taken charge of the kitchen, and her cooking is amazing. The homemade chips are fresh, and the burgers are top-notch. I’ll definitely be back!
My kind of Yacht Club. The beer is wet. You can get it in a schooner or oversized goblet. The service could be a lot worse and the food is mostly edible. What more could you ask for? They even have an outside patio. Yup!!! Patio. No boats or water views here but plenty of fishy tall tales.

Went there with a big group of guys. They let us take over the back patio and play our own music. They got our orders quick and made sure our beers were all flowing. Great dive bar with an awesome burger! Service is very good and friendly!
HBYC is as good as I remembered; Great burgers and homemade potato chips from real potatoes. This place hasn't changed in 20 years!
