It was my birthday and we had booked a table for 7.30pm. We were shown to our table on the terrace and were the only people there. Before taking our order for drinks or anything he chatted to us for half an hour about Nelson before another french couple arrived. He then transferred his attentions onto them for the next hour. Meanwhile we sat there with not even a carafe of water, bread, or anything. Finally water was put on our table around 9pm and he took our order. We received a cold gazpacho tasteless soup around 9.30, and our starter of foie gras (which was nice) around 10pm. 99% of the time he was still sat down talking to the couple on the other table. They were obviously unhappy about...

disturbing experience We are fine gourmets and for the birthday of our children we decided to go for dinner in a very typical , somewhere in the middle of nowhere, place with 8 adults and 2 babies at the Corniche in Penne. When we arrived around 19:00 7PM we were seduced by an extraordinary view of the fields and white limestone hills adjacent to the Aveyron. A beautiful table had been prepared by our host. He received us with attention and we were obviously expected. In fact the owner of the restaurant is at the same time the hostess, the waiter, the cook, the plunger and the table cleaner. So imagine the work done to serve the 12 peoples who were on the terrace. In addition the restaurant...
Having read the various reviews of La Corniche and living quite close to Brousses, we visited yesterday evening for a family dinner. I had made a reservation for 19.30 and arrived at 19.20 and were greeted and shown to a very good table with a beautiful view of the valley and river. There only one other table occupied at that time. We were promptly given menus and requested aperitif drinks which arrived within 5 minutes. The menu is fairly small but would cover most tastes but we were also offered the days menu . We started with an delicious mushroom sauce followed by various choices. Each course was of excellent quality and the main course cooked perfectly (I had steak which was tender and...
We've eaten here once or twice during our stay in the area, over the past four years as a treat to those new to the area. The patron is chef and waiter with one assistant in the kitchen. He said he grew up in the house and has converted it into this gem of a restaurant which seats only about 23 folks. Reservations are a must. Everything, at least for now, is made home-made, except as he notes, the ice creams are made by a neighbor. In warmer weather, you dine on the terrace with a sweeping, post-card perfect view of the valley and the Averyon River below. If you've got an issue with heights, stay away. In the cooler months you are inside in the dining room. The cooking is mainly derivations... Book a table now
This was our first meal when we started our vacation in St. Antonin du Noble. To say it was a huge disappointment doesn 't even start to describe it. What it does have going for it is the view from the back patio. That 's it! Food started out with little cubes of melon in salt water with were tasteless except for the salt. Our first real course was escargot which was horrible. There may have been a few escargot floating in a horrible soup that had a big pile of glop they called foil gras but looked and tasted as though it was an uncooked clump go condensed Campbell 's mushroom soup. This was followed by a main course of duck that was all fat, bones and gristle with no meat on it. Then for de...
Fourth visit in as many years and a combination of many previous comments: fantastic location, traditional feel and delicious food. HOWEVER the patron's standards left much to be desired: Charlie Chaplin meets Basil Fawlty! Obviously plastered when we arrived at 7.20pm: nearly knocked himself unconscious when he walked into the door-frame of the kitchen as he went to get us a menu. Dining room occupied by a group of 4 French, 4 British , my wife and me. He was struggling on his own to run the restaurant AND the kitchen however consumption of his own cellar's produce didn't help: cutlery dropped, retrieved and wiped on sleeve, orders taken twice, orders forgotten, bread appeared as an afterth...
Engagingly eccentric and alluringly authentic, it epitomises la France profonde of dreams, myth and legend. Le patron appears to do everything himself, being both cook and waiter, yet has time to discuss the food and expand on his philosophy with his clientèle. The set menu encompassed four courses: soupe, entrée, plat and fromage or dessert, with three little extras before or between courses, just for the joy of the thing. The whole atmosphere is that of delight in the home-made, the delicious, the local, and the available: M. Corbeau has a real gift for la cuisine and glories generously in it.
After promising ourselves a meal here for many years we finally made it on our last night in the region. One sitting at 7.30pm overlooking the spectacular valley. Excellent food, a gazpacho soup to start, chose lamb and then great selection of deserts. Half a bottle of local red and a bill for 78€ for 2. Only concern was the length of time between courses but as all food appeared to be freshly prepared and time wasn't a concern we were able to ignore this. Friendly and amenable host. Book a table now
We and our fellow diners have eaten here many times: as couples; with young children; and most recently as a party of six celebrating a special birthday. It was a great choice for a special meal the location is fabulous and the food was excellent. I note that there are a few unfavourable comments below but this has never been our experience, the standards of service and food have been always been consistently excellent.
