Whenever we visit Brentwood, we always make a stop at La Espiguita! They have a fantastic selection of Hispanic foods and desserts. We absolutely love their empanadas, especially the meat and cheese ones! Their pupusas are also amazing! In addition, they offer delicious treats like tres leches cake and cheesecakes, along with many other delightful options. They serve traditional drinks like Morir Soñando as well. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The restaurant is conveniently located near the road; although it might be in a slightly sketchy area, it doesn’t bother us at all since we used to live nearby!

I apologize for taking the time to write this. It feels like they are trying a bit too hard—while the pottery is nice, sometimes it’s better to concentrate on a few key items and execute them well. The cambray empanadas had too much dough and not enough filling, leaving too much empty space. I'm puzzled by the decision to add yellow food coloring to the pan de yuca. The mini almojabanas weren't fresh and seemed to lack something essential. I think I'll stick with La Pecosa in East Meadow next time.
The arroz con leche had a sour taste—not spoiled, but it seemed intentional, as if that’s their usual preparation method. Unfortunately, it was quite unappetizing, especially for a dessert that is supposed to be sweet and have a hint of cinnamon. Instead, it was bland and sour, which was really confusing. I paid $6 for it, and they didn’t even mention that it would taste this way. What a disappointment!

I typically would give them five stars and may do so again in the future, but this time the Cubano sandwich didn't taste quite right. I'm not sure if they changed the pickles or altered the ingredients, but the flavor just wasn't as delightful as it usually is.
My drink cup wasn’t sealed properly, causing the juice to spill all over the inside of the plastic bag—about half stayed in the cup, while the rest soaked into the bag. On top of that, the bread pudding was stale.
The rice lacked flavor and tasted stale, even crunchy. On top of that, they completely forgot my beef order. I'll give them another chance, but I was definitely disappointed.
The service was outstanding. Although some prices were a bit higher than I anticipated, the exceptional quality of the homemade food made it worth it.
