this is one of my favorite restaurants, and we came here to celebrate his birthday. it's been a long time since we've been here, not just because of the pandemic, but also because of my life that's been out of the country for several years. my son, his wife and I had a fantastic time. eating was delicious, plentiful and funny, the service was so friendly, and the ambiente was great. we came to lunch, so the atmosphere was calm. we loved the big Christmas tree and the fire in the fireplace. the charm of the city ellicott does not harm either. we loved our culinary experience and lood forward to go back to la palapa soon.
The service was great! Ambiance was good; we ate in a covered outdoor area and it was fine if a little noisy. Three taco dinners and two chimichangas all met with approval. A pitcher of margaritas received rave reviews! Cost was a fair value. When I have been here in the past, there was music; there was no music before we left before 8:00pm on a Tuesday. You need to remember this is not a five-star restaurant. What it is is a fun, casual place to enjoy a good Tex-Mex meal and a good time without breaking the bank.
I haven’t been here in years. The outdoor dining area was lovely, but a bit loud. The food for the family was good and well liked. I ordered the crab and shrimp quesadilla and was a bit disappointed. There was very little crab and one small shrimp on each slice. I wouldn’t order it again. The free chips and salsa were a nice addition, but the chips were overcooked and had a burnt taste.
We always have a great meal here. Food is great and the price is great. I only gave four stars for service because some servers were really busy and some servers were standing around. Our server was really good but super busy. Seems like the servers could have been spread out better based on workload. Overall great experience as usual.

I love the relaxed feel of this place, the only problem is parking in downtown Ellicott City. However there is a small parking lot for the La Palapa. The food was excellent.. We will definitely would return to try more dishes. Service was well-timed and friendly, The waitress suggested a draft beer that was fantastic.
We all enjoyed our meal. The delicious food make up for the mediocre service. We are usually disappointed with restaurant guacamole, but it was wonderful! And we were all pleasantly surprised by how great the beef nachos were! We’ll definitely be back.
Wanted to meet friends from outside the area for lunch. Staff was very accommodating of our need to visit and socialize (as well as eat) and allowed us to move at our own pace . They were very accommodating and the food was excellent.
The entre was delicious, the service was most excellent and the deserts were great! (Deserts are only an afterthought at some restaurants, but not here! They are very tasty.

Enchiladas were excellent. Full bar. Sometimes live music. I will definitely be back.
