The dining experience at this restaurant was disappointing. We ordered three dishes: fake shark fin, overly salty lamb, and fake steak. None of them tasted like authentic Shanghainese cuisine. The fish dish used a fake type of fish and was served in a bright pink sauce. My husband took one bite and refused to eat any more. The lamb was so salty that we couldn't take another bite. I gave this restaurant two stars because they replaced the lamb dish after we complained. I do not recommend this place for anyone looking for authentic Shanghainese food.
This restaurant has been around for about 38 years, and I've been a patron for at least 30 of those years. It serves authentic Shanghainese cuisine with a remarkably consistent quality. Jenny, the head waitress, has been with them for over 25 years. I truly appreciate the reliability of their dishes. Not many Chinese restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley survive that long. The same owner and chef have been at the helm, but they're nearing retirement. I just hope they don’t make any changes too soon.
Been coming to this restaurant for at least 20 yrs. They cook better than other Chinese restaurants. Their specialty is pork pump. They cooked it 2 different ways. One with soy sauce and the other is without. Both are good but My favorite is without soy sauce.
Lake Spring is the restaurant of choice for our family members in Monterey Park. The restaurant offers authentic and delicious Chinese foods. We always enjoy their dishes during our visits in the past 20 years under the same ownership.
