Restaurant Review: A Disappointing Experience I recently joined a friend for dinner at Los Fogones, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever witnessed. My friend ordered a well-done steak, but it arrived undercooked. When my friend politely asked for a replacement, the owner came out, visibly annoyed, and condescendingly lectured my friend on how steak should be cooked, insisting on his years of experience and that he is right and she is wrong. The owner was so stubborn he didn't realize you can't force your customers to eat your bad cooking, no matter how many years his being doing it wrong and he lives in denial. I used to give this restaurant a 5-star rating, but my last two experiences (six months apart, both takeout) have been disappointing. On both occasions, I requested my steak to be well done, but received it medium well instead. My husband also found a bone in his chicken fried rice. Additionally, the flavors and spices in our dishes were significantly lacking compared to years past. I even had to add salt to my meal, which I've never had to do before. It's unclear what has changed—maybe there's a new chef or they're simply using fewer spices—but the difference is noticeable.
The food was excellent and the portions were generous for the price. Everything was rich in flavor and perfectly juicy. The sauces complemented the meats beautifully. The servers were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was peaceful—neither too bright nor too noisy—making for a relaxing dining experience. Despite ordering nearly all the available meats, our food arrived promptly. We tried the Carlos platter, which came with seven meats and four sides, all at an incredible value!
Wonderful authentic Peruvian food with some other fusion options too. The food is always amazing, especially the jalea, the skewers, and the salmon. Truly best salmon I've ever had. Always get the yucca fries. With lots of yellow sauce. Also best salad bar ever. Yes, I said salad bar. Even better than the food are the cocktails, Jose is the best bartender ever. Best overall restaurant in Goldsboro!

We went for lunch on Monday and it was empty, despite having all those stars, so definitely recommend going on a Monday. Very attentive service. I had the fried fish of the day which had this zesty butter sauce under it that made it amazing.
Referred by locals as the place to go for a great lunch. They were right! Stellar service, fantastic flavorful food, and lovely ambiance. I imagine this would be a perfect spot for a romantic dinner, too!
