There are two Mako outlets in Hobart. One is a dine-in/take-away in North Hobart and the other a punt on the Hobart wharf.THIS review is about the North Hobart Mako. The food wasn't cheap but it looked good judging by dishes coming out for the few other customers there. By the time our order was taken we were the only diners left, but it still took forever for our meals to be ready. The fish was tasteless and the batter and the chips were soggy. And how can chips be soggy and slightly burnt at the same time?On the good side the lady serving and cooking was very friendly and accommodating.

We popped in for takeaways tonight and placed our order at 6.19pm. There were obvious signs of disorganisation as soon as we arrived. Tables were left uncleared the whole time we were there & staff appeared to be unmotivated. We waited 33 minutes for our meals which were served 5 minutes apart. The whole process was rather ordinary and it was evident other patrons were thinking the same as I was. They need to lift their game given there is a fair amount of competition for seafood at Constitution Dock.

Mind you, this Mako fresh seafood place is in North Hobart, which has nothing to do with Mako takeaway place at the dock. Frozen/half thawed prawns at 48$ a Kg, they are big ones, but not huge, 48$ though, are you kidding me? Haven't tried their takeaway yet, their fresh/frozen seafood section simply scared me away.

We came in to buy some fresh seafood in a pretty good mood. We were greeted by a shorter stocky man who we both thought was lacking any basic customer service skills. We enjoyed the variety of seafood we bought and the prices were ok. The Pink ling fish is one we will never have again due to its inferior texture. Book a table now

Great! Located on the wharf with a few other Fish & Chip vans. Mako’s point of difference is they do dine in and take away. Dine in is still casual and very welcoming. Service is great, and the fish & chips servings are generously portioned, cooked well, fresh and delicious.

The fish and chips were very tasty especially the fish which didn't have too much batter so was delicious with the tartare sauce. The chips were a generous serve. We didn't have to wait long and enjoyed sitting on the wharf eating them before our concert across the road.

Enjoyed a good take away selection of fish and chips, scallops and prawns for a family gathering for my daughter's birthday. It was a bit quiet on the night but appears to be popular with locals

Try the Mako Basket. Excellent food at a very reasonable price. We did take away and it was "as good as it gets " for a seafood dinner. Book a table now
