Not so good this time, after two previous visits had been excellent. The impressive main dining space the Brasserie is now only open at weekends (Fri Sun) and for functions. The bar area still quite a smart location is now set up for dinner Mon Thu. Service is largely in the hands of young men keen to learn their trade but there were lapses the couple on the next table were offered water while I was ignored, and my glass of white wine arrived a couple of minutes after the crispy squid starter, accompanied by the glass of red for the rib eye steak main. We had to send one of the meals back. The chick pea curry was so bitter, it just tasted like vinegar and nothing else. It was literally inedible. The first time I have ever sent back food. The photos of the restaurant are old, it doesn't look like that anymore. The menu is old too, much less options now, they basically just sell burgers. For the price, we were expecting so much more. The waitress was however extremely nice and apologetic and happily swapped the food for something else. Even the replacement food was not good. Seemed like a pre bought microwaved pie. If it wasn't for the waitress we would have walked out.
We had booked a table for two in the Restaurant but when we got to the hotel we were told the Restaurant was closed. We were told we could choose a table in the bar area. Since the evening meal and hotel stay were for a special occasion birthday meal, this was a disappointment. Fortunately the bar area wasn't too busy. The tables were set up well and the whole area looked appealing and relaxing. There was a book swap area which I've not seen in a hotel bar before great idea! There was also a pool table. The menu was limited and we ended with options neither of us would normally choose. The staff were friendly.
the appetizers were brilliant, I had the squid and my wife had the brot with olive oil and balsamico vinegar main course I had the steak and ale cake served with broccoli and maische kartoffeln, although the eating was very hot the maische was powdered kartoffel and that was the same on the meal of my wife she had the laughs that was delicious. we had deserted I had dark chocolate and cherrycake this was served with coconut ice cream and my wife had the panacota these were ok, but I felt they were not good.

ayo our waiter was beautiful, personal and with a sense of humor. we made ourselves happy and showed us the table with one of the things I had asked. in my online booking. ayp gave us enough time to read the menu and decide what we wanted. eating was nice and surpassed our expectations. sharing platter, steakhouse burger, korean kimchi burger, s’mores cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding with custard, 4pints of pepsi max total £82, but we had £50 yums so our jubile meal was just £30! thank you. the fork!
This restaurant accommodates all preferences. My spouse and I have never been let down by the variety and quality of the food. The staff are consistently friendly and serve with a smile. The prices of our meals have always been fair. I highly recommend giving this restaurant a visit.
I ordered the fish and chips and was disappointed to find that the fish seemed to be frozen and tasted terrible. The chips were passable, but overall the meal was not worth the £18 price tag. Additionally, the coke I ordered was flat, adding to the disappointing experience.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. The meal prepared by Chef James was excellent, faultless, and beautifully presented. The wait staff were attentive and courteous. Definitely worth a visit.
