Feeling peckish after arriving in the town I happened upon this little takeaway. It had seating out front which I thought would be handy on the warm morning of my visit. I ordered the 'French ' panini. That meant a filling of brie, ham and cranberry. It wasn 't panini bread, it was a grilled baguette. The baguette was a decent size. I had my reusable cup filled with tea bit of a self serve after the hot water 's been added (bit like Greggs). As I made my way outside I got a warning about seagulls.... I do late nights at my work in St. Andrews so my break is usually around 3ish. Munch shuts at 4. The woman who work here clearly think it should shut earlier.. as every time I come in after 3 o’clock always before 3:30) they make it very obvious how annoyed they are having to serve me after 3 oclock and the customers in front. I once went in and asked for a simple salad, the woman was very annoyed and kept sighing as she had to take the clingfilm of the salads to serve me, another woman from the back came through and turned the lights off whilst I was in the shop!! Dropped in for Breakfast after spending the week in St Andrews. They advertise the Best Bacon Roll in the World To be honest, I could make better myself, very disappointing. No Square Sausage available which was strange. They also don 't sell Lattes which for a coffee shop in 2019 was missing a trick. They only had Filter coffee. Decent seats outside in the Sunshine was the only positive. Far better alternatives in St Andrews, Must try harder.
Munch on South Street St Andrews is a fantastic place to grab that morning roll and coffee/tea to get your day started. If you can’t manage a morning visit the sandwich selection for lunch is endless. The fillings are generous and very reasonably priced and always served with a smile from the friendly staff. We got 2 baguettes for our picnic and were blown away by the quality and size of the portions . One filled with tuna mayo and the other ham and salad for around £6 for the 2. So fresh and tasty we could hardly finish them they were so stuffed. Friendly ladies too. Recommended.
Very friendly, happy, chatty and professional staff. I had a Double Espresso and Mars Bar Cake, a perfect pairing. The coffee was well prepared and, like the cake, quite delicious! I highly recommend Munch of St. Andrews. 10/10 A1+
Spent a recent week in St Andrews and used Munch a few times. Brillaint rolls very genorous fillings ie 2 of everything. Cheap prices friendly staff cheaper than cooking your own breakfast give them a try.
Love this local takeaway seems to be busy despite all chain stores currently taking over the town. Great value, tasty bacon roll, quick service. Always try to pop in when I’m passing.
