Visited on a weekday for lunch, and it turned out to be a great choice! I ordered the supreme bowl, while my partner went for the beef ball one, I believe. The restaurant has ample seating, making it easy to find a spot. The soup was delicious, and the portion size was generous; my bowl was so big I couldn't finish it all. A perfect spot for a hearty weekday lunch. As a sweet ending, I tried the dessert featuring mung bean, red bean, and coconut. It was undeniably good, with a delightful sweetness. However, as you indulge more, it does lean on the sweeter side. I'd recommend a smaller serving size to fully savor the flavors without it becoming overwhelming. Despite the sweetness, the dessert...

Albany Ao Sen easily serves up some of the best pho I’ve had in the Oakland area—rich, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying. The broth is packed with depth, and every bite feels comforting and authentic. On top of that, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, making the whole dining experience feel smooth and welcoming. The food comes out impressively fast, which is perfect when you’re craving something warm and delicious. And don’t sleep on the spicy marinated chicken—it’s a hidden gem on the menu that deserves way more attention. Bold, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend! The bo bia at Albany Ao Sen was quite confusing. Inside, there were long, thin slices of jicama, and underneath the sausage slices was a strange sweet, fishy, flaky layer. It also included Thai basil and a fried egg, which were fine, but the Chinese sausage was very thinly sliced and not browned at all. The overall combination resulted in a really odd taste and texture. I wouldn’t recommend it. The strangest part was the fish paste, which, after looking closer, was actually made up of many tiny shrimp.
Review from an 8 year old:Food very good, favorite restaurant in the whole world! And favorite food.Service: Super duper nice. They always remember our order because we always get the same thing. And we get extra lime and they always remember that too.Atmosphere: They have vines hanging from the ceiling. It's very pretty at the checkout. Kid friendliness: Very kid friendly! Book a table now
I stopped by Albany Ao Sen for a quick lunch and asked how long a rice plate would take. The server said about 6 to 8 minutes, but my meal arrived in less than 5. It was delicious, and the pho broth was flavorful. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this spot for authentic Vietnamese cuisine!
Albany Ao Sen offers an incredible menu, especially their rice plates and ribs, which were outstanding. I ordered to go but was seated and served hot tea while waiting. The staff were courteous, and the food was excellent. Highly recommended. Wheelchair accessible.
It is a spacious, clean, delicious, friendly, and all-round great restaurant!! I think I’ll go often!!I ordered rice noodles number 5 and number 14 and the spicy wings were so delicious hehe. Parking: Parking space is small, but local street parking is available.
I’ve probably eaten here over 20 times. The Vietnamese cuisine is exceptional and reasonably priced. This family-owned restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and excellent service. My top pick is the vermicelli bowl. Definitely worth checking out! Book a table now
Always bustling, I’ve been a loyal customer for 10 years. The quality remains consistently excellent, making it one of the best pho spots in the area.
Too much rice, not enough meat. Marinated pork tasted average. The best part was the pickled veggies.
