Don't get put off,yes its an Asian restaurant in a club. There everywhere. But this one is different. It,s in the Gymea Trade Union club ( Tradies ). Its in a separate area upstairs. It would appear to be managed by people not associated with the club. The menu is unique in that its covers Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Malaysian all with their own sub menus. The menu doesn't have the usual 50 meals that most Asian restaurants have .I had off the Japanese menu Prawn tempura followed by Beef Rendang off the Malaysian section. The prawn Tempura was the best I have had since we were in japan. Beef Rendang which we shared was complimented by others at our table, how good it was. Other meals selected...

We arrived for dinner at 6.30pm, without having pre-booked. Two of our party of five were running late (by 20 minutes), so the three of us studied the menu. It is split up into the various countries and their cuisine, which was handy for us.One of our group was gluten-free, and had many choices. While the meals were tasty and more than adequate, they were not all served at the same time. The boiled rice rice was served on our plates by the waitress when the first two dishes arrived. By the time the fourth and fifth meal was served, the rice was stone cold. The food prices were higher than average compared similar restaurants, but, I would be happy enough to go there again as the food was good.
It was off to a bad start with the owner/manager showing us in a rushed and grumpy manner to our table. He wasn't pleasant at all. We have seen his bad mood downstairs in the bistro but wasn't expecting to cop it again in the more expensive Serendip restaurant. One of our dishes was roast duck in plum sauce. Horrible! The roast duck was destroyed because they smothered it in thick mushy batter. Why on earth would you batter roast duck! Anyway the manager tune us off the bistro and now he has turned us off his pride and joy restaurant Serendip. It's a pity because the other staff try so hard to be pleasant and warm. Not going back.
wow this place is worth a visit if you have never been. They have a wide ranging menu with many different Asian cuisines. I went with a large group that ordered many varied meals and everyone was magnificent, both in taste and presentation. The service is extremely friendly and while it is located in a club the atmosphere is great. It is a part of Tradies club - a quiet gem.I will be returning many time - and you should try.One hint - the meals are large so it is easy to share one with rice unless very hungry. Book a table now
We visited as a group of ladies on Saturday night. We were excited to see a Lazy Susan on our table, always makes for a fun meal ! We ordered a mixture of dishes to share and every single one of them was very tasty. The service was also very good with waiter's pouring our wine etc for us. We could not fault anything, and looking forward to returning again soon with my family.
Billed as Asian fusion and providing dishes from Singapore to Tokyo and not doing any of them well. Have eaten at Willow at Tradies and its much better than the offering in this restaurant. Service was friendly but inefficient and very slow. The food was okay, but nothing to rave about. Many better Asian restaurants in the area. I think they would better limiting the range.
Went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The food was really good but I can't say the same for the service. The manager was very pushy like he wanted us in and out as quick as possible. After ordering a drink before ordering it took a while to be served and that was only after asking again. The food certainly made up for the quality of service. Would eat here again.
Quite expensive for a Chinese restaurant. But it makes up with beautiful food and great to have restaurant with crisp white tablecloth. Yum Cha is excellent as well. Staff listen to what and how you wish to order. Fine tasting food and worth a visit Book a table now
Me and my friends tried the new Yum cha menu... delicious! We will definitely come back in Serendip and next time we will try the lunch banquets
Menu contains Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Malay and Japanese dishes. All the dishes are great. Especially recommend the Wasabi Beef Cubes.
