We had a great experience at this restaurant! We went for dinner and it was fantastic. Even my husband, who is not vegan, wants to go back when we are in the area again. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to accommodate my daughter's soy intolerance by offering a plain tomato pasta for her. We started with the hummus, adapted with less oil for my daughter, and it was delicious. For our main dishes, we had the crispy sprouts, vegetable gyoza small plates, and the 'lamb' ragu and pumpkin tortellini pastas, all of which were incredibly tasty. Hot chocolate was alright, too bad they ran out of whipped cream. Seitan Katsu came with seaweed which I don't eat anymore, the seitan had a thin crispy batter to it, there was not enough of it! Rice was good and the Katsu sauce was alright, more on the sweet side, 3/5 stars Sunday roast was great, the broccolini was the star, seitan was great along with the parsnip mash, wanted more of it! 4.5/5 stars SFS burger was really dry, even though the red cabbage kept dripping juice, the leaf (not the red cabbage) was really dry too, almost waxy.....the buns were crispy on the outside, and it's quite thick compared to the super thin crispy seitan, due to the buns, it made biting into it awkward. The restaurant offers delicious food in a fantastic location in the heart of Chester. The interior is very cozy with an additional seating area on a balcony overlooking the Rows. A wide selection of vegan drinks is also available, which is a nice bonus. We tried the mushroom calamari and hot dog burger, but they also offer more traditional dishes. The food was tasty, although the prices were on the higher side, similar to London. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we would definitely consider dining here again on our next trip to Chester.
This restaurant was fantastic! We visited on a day trip to Chester and found it to be comfortable yet stylish, with all vegan options that were absolutely delicious. We tried the burgers with cole slaw, the fries were super tasty, and we would have loved to try the donuts if we had more time. Highly recommend this place!

I’ve visited shrub several times now and is always my go-to when in Chester. The food is amazing and the restaurant itself has a beautiful interior with a gorgeous outdoor Terrace area perfect for warmer months!
The restaurant offers an incredible variety of vegan dishes and tasty drinks, including refreshing mocktails which were a delightful surprise. I definitely plan on coming back as frequently as I can.
