Sichuan Impression, the newest addition to Alhambra’s vibrant culinary scene, has swiftly become a local favorite in the San Gabriel Valley, renowned for its tantalizingly spicy Sichuan cuisine. This sister branch of the famed Century City restaurant has elegantly carved its niche amidst the spicy food landscape dominated by Chengdu Taste and Chengdu Impression. For those previously daunted by endless waits at other establishments, Sichuan Impression proves to be a revelation, a beacon of culinary brilliance. My visit on a leisurely Sunday afternoon revealed an establishment that effortlessly balances demand and service. Securing a table through Yelp 's waiting list was a breeze, and once se...

I was here in August 2023 with a party of four. We didn't have a reservation, but it was a full house inside even on a weeknight! Two people came later but they still sat us first. I'm on the border giving between 3 and 4 star rating for Sichuan Impression. I'll go with 3 since 3.5 seems to be a good thing for Chinese restaurants. This place looked new because it was modern and clean inside. They had a huge counter in the back that looks like it might have belonged to a boba shop in the past. Ordering is on QR code that is at the table. You can do individual or group order. We started with the smoked tea duck. I think I've had better elsewhere, so this was just ok for me. Next Mr Mrs Smith a...
After we ordered, I double-checked with the waiter about my girlfriend's serious allergy, and he reassured me it was no problem. Our first dish arrived, and it was completely drenched in peanuts—throughout the dish and on top. Not a great start. I flagged down the waiter, and he brought the manager, who apologized and promised to make a new dish due to a misunderstanding in the kitchen. However, the replacement dish came out just 3-4 minutes later, which made me suspicious about how quickly they could prepare it from scratch. They assured us that the new dish was completely peanut-free and had no risk of cross-contamination. When I took a bite, I was shocked to find a HALF PEANUT right bene...
As for the food, it caters to local tastes, so it's not overly spicy. I especially enjoyed the Tea Smoked Pork Ribs, which had a delightful crispiness. The Beef Brisket and tofu soup are also excellent choices. We often order the Boiled Fish with Rattan Pepper and Mini Lamb Skewers. The Spicy Frog Dry Pot and Fried Shrimp Dry Pot are both flavorful options as well. For dessert, the fried rice cake with brown sugar is perfect for sharing, while the School Yard Ice Jelly is a tad sweeter than usual. We also tried the special Rose Honey Tea, which was fantastic. It's definitely better to go with a group so you can share and sample a variety of dishes. Overall, it's a great place that's definit... Book a table now
The restaurant at this location has recently reopened, and the entire atmosphere feels upgraded, offering a more comfortable seating experience. We tried the "Mao Cai," "toothpick lamb," "qiao jiao beef soup," and shrimp scrambled eggs, and each dish was delicious. Even if you're not a fan of spicy food, I recommend trying a little spice to experience the local flavors.
It’s my friends’ 2nd visit and my first time, this restaurant was Michelin guided 2021, the location is in the downtown of Alhambra, every dishes we ordered was fine taste, traditional but also creative, we finished our 7 dishes, and the dessert. And we walked to have a Taiwanese shakes tea after lunch, very satisfying!! I definitely will return with my family!
I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It had a nice spiciness and rich garlic flavors. We tried a few places in the area, but this one is definitely worth a return visit.
Went here with family and this is the best Sichuan cuisine I've ever had. Even my least favorite dish in our order was a masterpiece. I already want to go back for more! Book a table now
The food is excellent for those who enjoy spicy dishes. I requested mine to be less spicy, but it was still quite hot.
Authentic tasty flavors and good service. My wife is from Chengdu. We both loved it.
