I visited Suwan Thai with my friends yesterday. The food was good however unfortunately I found piece of plastic in my food. This was informed to the waitress as soon as I found it. She offered to replace the meal however since I was almost done I said not to worry about it. After consulting with the manager she offered refund. When we went to the counter to pay the account, the girl serving instead of apologising asked us to inform such incidents first ( before finishing meal) next time so that they can replace the meal. Really good thai food, a bit hard to find, especially on half-abandoned arcade, then on the back stairs, but the service was ok, and the food was lovely - the Pad Thai was huge, beef red curry had a nice Beef Zing on it, and the roti bread was both delicious and a decent amount of it.

Also - it's BYO, very practical because there is a "Quickie-Mart" doors.
I had the cashew rooms and the chicken. It tasted as if you were going back in Thailand. I could smell the wastewater and hear asian voices, just as I was back. When I reached for my spoon and for fork, I looked over and saw a chicken in the corner. Good times.

Seriously great Thai food!
The massaman is great yum! So everything else is. The dishes are full of taste and beautiful spice levels. Perfect to take away and food. I recommend this for locals and tourists in Hobart. :)

Suwan Thai's tom kha gai (coconut chicken soup) is the best I've had in Hobart, but also the most expensive ($19 for a main serve), so it's six of one and

Very odd dining experience
* We arrived for our 6.30 booking only to discover they had no record of it.
They had several vegetarian and vegan choices I liked the tofu and vegetables, and the yellow curry.
