Back in February some mates and I were doing a self guided tour around Victoria visiting craft beer breweries. One of the stops was Rutherglen Brewery so before heading there I jumped on their website to check their opening hours. All good, we would make it there for lunch on the Saturday. We arrived around 12.00pm only to find the place was shut. The sign on the door said they were on holidays and that the brewery would be closed for about a week. It would have been nice to know this before we had driven 185km to get there. No mention of them being closed on their website. A total waste of time!
After lunch at Ripe at Andrew Buller wines, we decided to have dinner at the sister restaurant Taste. We were not disappointed we had a very good dining experience. The staff were excellent (we had been served by some of the same people at Ripe) and provided great service. We enjoyed every dish. We decided to choose our own wine rather than have the wine pairing. We particularly enjoyed the Berkshire pork belly pork belly presented in an amazing way. I also thought the bread and butter pudding was pretty good. We also enjoyed the live music coming from the adjoining beer garden.
Between my partner and I we had 5 dishes from the menu and each was superbly prepared and presented and flavours exquisite. Better than most flash Sydney restaurants. Service was friendly and warm and Chef came out and served as well which is refreshing and welcome. Completely disagree with Two Sheds review from 5 months ago. We'll done Taste, a thoroughly enjoyable experience and would love to come back again.
We called and booked at Taste only an hour before eating there. We were a bit apologetic that at short notice, we were bringing a gluten free pescatarian we try to give more notice than that! To their credit, they didn’t panic, they got input from both chefs, and delivered me a “seafood special”, featuring a terrific Jerusalem artichoke mash. My husband adored his bread and butter pudding.

Amazing staff and service. On a busy weekend with all eateries in the area being short staffed due to the new COVID rules they allowed us to grab a meal before they started to fill up for the night. The garlic prawns and pizza were amazing. Thanks again for fitting us in
While showing online that open until 3pm, we went out of our way to go to try their beers at 2:30 to find that they were closed. The sign was till out indicating it was open yet the door locked shut. What a waste of time!
Cool joint. The beer was not great but not bad. A nice change from wines but nothing to write home about. It's super busy tho so make a booking if you want to eat.
Google says open, sign out the front, doors unlocked but brewery closed.Would have been nice to know and we would have driven in a different direction.
