a beautiful and quaint little place to grab a snack and coffee. when I first entered the building I did not expect it to look as homely and as welcoming as it did. the fireplace, for one, was real fire, and not just a video playing on a tv. next to it was a modest but intriguing little bookshelf, and all the seating was as comfortable as can be. the café itself was alive with people, which goes to show that people already do appreciate this place. as for the coffee itself, it was much richer coffee than I'd had anywhere else, even at starbucks--and i didn't even have to pay that much. we also had very smooth and attentive service by the baristas. I've found The Abbey to be one of the best spots on the west end of Belleville to get a good drink or snack and just relax. I've stopped in here a handful of times since my high school years and every time I'm satisfied with the experience. Staff are professional and courteous, the space is kept clean and cute, and I always think about returning upon leaving. For my most recent visit, I enjoyed the patio on a Tuesday morning in June. It's decked out with garden decorations, a water bowl for furry friends, a fireplace, and lights hanging above. Beside the main patio is a wooded area with picnic benches. The Abbey hosts live music every Thursday night and it draws a sizable crowd.
First time trying this place, the girl at the register seemed to have an attitude, I’ve ordered a lotus drink, it tasted like 90% carbonation and 10% flavor, after 5 minutes it tasted like straight water.
Amazing variety of food and beverages, with something for everyone. Food is beautifully served and tastes as good as it looks. Order at the counter and hunt for a table. Shortcoming: not enough parking.

Excellent food and coffee. Pleasant atmosphere. Comfortable and relaxing place to visit. My favorite is the Sweet Louise salad. And they have a great good decaf coffee too!
I love The Abbey! Food coffee are consistently good. Staff is friendly. The outdoor seating is great with nice cool breezes. The inside tends to be a little echo-ey noisy.
This place is a dream! Great food, great coffee, liquor for those who want. Quiet atmosphere perfect for studying, munching, or gathering.
The food and atmosphere are phenomenal! I can't recommend the Egg Bake Panini enough, and the iced mocha!
