I visited the restaurant a couple of times whilst staying at the hotel and have mixed views on it. The buffet style breakfast was quite nice and I 'd say good value for money. Our evening meal however I was not overly impressed with. The appertisers we had were nice, especially that thai rice crackers. For my main I ordered the classic cheese burger and was served a ranch burger. I sent it back and was then sent a burger with just salad on. I pointed out once again that I had ordered a cheese burger but the server told me that they dont do this and it is a classic hamburger. I didn 't have a menu in front of me and thought maybe I had misread it, my other half said I must be wrong so i accep...

My fiancé and I stayed at the hotel for the weekend and decided to try the restaurant on the first night. What a huge mistake. We ordered bread and oils as a starter while we waited for our meals. Unfortunately, the focaccia bread was stale and cold, and it seemed like they didn't even bother to warm it up. Instead of using a balsamic reduction in the olive oil, they used vinegar. Our main course was even worse. We both ordered the sweet and sticky pork belly with rice and crispy cabbage. It was truly terrible. The pork belly was grilled too long, causing the fat to burn instead of crisp up. The sauce seemed like it was just hoisin sauce poured straight from the bottle on top. It was neither...
We recently had a delightful afternoon tea at Abbots Wells. One standout aspect was the exceptional service provided by Lucy. From greeting us at reception to escorting us to our table in the restaurant, her focus on detail and prioritizing the customer was outstanding. Our table had a lovely view of the grounds, and she made sure we were comfortable on a sunny afternoon. The food was delicious, and Lucy's attentive care to ensure we had everything we needed showcased exemplary customer service. Kudos to Lucy for upholding a standard of service that is often hard to come by these days - she truly is an asset to Abbots Wells. Martin and Julie.
After staying at this restaurant a couple of weeks ago, we decided to return as we were going to do some Christmas shopping. Once again, it did not disappoint. From check-in to check-out, the service was great throughout. The room was lovely and clean, the bar had a very chilled vibe and fabulous staff, and the restaurant offered views of the gardens. We noticed they also have outside pods that you can dine in for an extra cost (we will definitely be doing this next time). The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The pool was great and we didn't want to leave. Thank you once again for a really lovely stay, we will be back. Book a table now
Service was slow and several dishes were unavailable on the limited menu. The waiting staff showed a lack of knowledge and in one case a lack of personal hygiene. On ordering a gluten free main course we were advised it was unavailable however we were offered a dish showing on the menu as containing gluten. We queried this but we’re told on this occasion the chef had made it from scratch without ingredients containing gluten. My dinner companion ate the offered meal but half way through felt slightly uneasy. We obviously cannot be sure but there was at least a contamination issue!
Felt very looked after by lovely staff Susan H and Daniel and Lucy. We stayed in two rooms and in one room our two boys were left an Easter egg each on arrival. Unfortunately as we were in two rooms our daughter hadn’t got one. The staff immediately rectified this and Lucy secretly left one in our other room. Susan was so lovely with our daughter and explained the Easter bunny hadn’t realised we were in two different room. She also made a huge fuss of Her and asked questions regarding her interests. We felt very welcome and looked after. Thank you
We were staying in this hotel and ate in the Brasserie on our first evening. The restaurant was quiet and the service was good. However, we found the range of meals restricted but both found something suitable. Very poor vegetarian options though. The food was excellent although we would both have like more vegetables. The sweets were very good too and we found this a pleasant place to eat as the view onto the garden is very relaxing.
Came for lunch with friends. They ordered sandwiches which I believe they enjoyed, but as there was no vegan sandwich. With a choice between olives, nuts, or the humous and pitta sharing platter, I chose the platter. It was a pot of homemade and flavourless humous and 3 halfs of pitta bread on a plate. No garnish, no effort. I wouldn't call it a sharing platter. Book a table now
Food ok but pricey for what you get. Had wrong meal served which was corrected and given wine to compensate. Good as large glass of white wine ranged in price from £9. To £13, like London prices!
I had Piri piri chiken. It was bland and dried out with burned extremities. With a big change in menu, chef and decor, the experience could be great. This wasn't.
