We decided to make a pit stop at this pub during our walk, craving some delicious pub food. The pub is a charming old inn with no fancy paint schemes, which we appreciated. We enjoyed our meal in the outdoor seating area, indulging in hearty doorstep sandwiches with real cheese (not that pre-grated stuff) and tasty ham with fresh salad. A cider and a side of crisps added the perfect finishing touch. The prices were also very reasonable. Pubs like these are becoming rare, and we will miss them when they're gone. We wished we were there on the weekend to try their roast dinner!
While walking around the local area, we stumbled upon this pub expecting it to be closed for lunch. To our surprise, it was open and we were pleasantly surprised. Despite its slightly worn exterior, it adds to the charm of the place. I agree with a previous reviewer who described it as a traditional pub with a mysterious landlord, friendly locals, and a great pint of Abbot. The only food available was sandwiches, but they were delicious and filling. Overall, we had a lovely time at this cozy pub and would definitely return if we were in the area again.
This restaurant has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned pub. It is open all day, and when we arrived around 3:30, we were informed that they only serve sandwiches. I had a delicious tuna mayo salad on thick white bread, and my friend had a ham and mustard sandwich. Both dishes were served with a side salad and a few crisps, and they were very tasty. It's a pity that I don't live closer to this place.
Well worth a visit,The **** reminded us of what pubs used to be-no gastro here (thank goodness)-just a proper pub serving proper,well kept beer and serving excellent doorstep sandwiches. Remarkably cheap Sunday roasts which we would have tried had we been there on a Sunday. Good atmosphere with local regulard.

The food in this pub is absolutely delicious and is good value for money. The pub is very small but I think this adds to the charm. It is lovely and warm by the fire. The staff are very welcoming and the best feature is the cat behind the bar who likes an ear rub.
My husband and I stopped by for Sunday roast and weren't disappointed. Four choices of meats (or vegetarian) and extremely generous helpings of tasty food for a great price, accompanied by friendly service. Excellent find!
What a great pub, a real pub, no wine racks. This is how all pubs should be .Great beer at a great price .Friendly owners and customers. No gastro pretend pub and no Goombar. What ever that is.
Easy to pass this by on the busy A134 but don't. It's a proper old boozer with a mysterious landlord, some lively locals and a perfect pint of Abbot.
