This rating is purely based on the pizza. I commend the effort in blending the styles of New York and Italian pizza. I had high hopes for this pizza, but sadly it fell short. While I have enjoyed these styles separately, they are not properly represented when combined. That said, the customer service was superb. Everyone was very friendly and food service was prompt. 10 years in restaurants. The Dons is hands down the best pizza in NoVa. Let me make this clear; 1. Bryan. Absolute amazing service. You are the man. Would hire him in a second. Thank you. 2. Consistency. Food is constant. No flaws ever. Hand made dough with a well kept wood fire stove. Toppings are fresh. Everything about this place is what you want out of a restaurant. Went here for lunch. The place was pretty busy with mostly teenage kids off because of Martin Luther king day. Everybody not eating were wearing masks. I got a lunch combo of 2 slices and a soda for $7 which wasn't bad considering how huge the slices are. My wife got the Skinny Joey sandwich. She enjoyed it. I always go here for my pizza fix whenever I am in the area. Great tasting pizza and huge slices.
I chased the don on a laune and tried the Margherita pizza. the crust, I wouldn't call straight wood fired, more like wood burned, and the sauce was so watery that the crust was also so cheeky. the pizza had fresh basilikum, but too little of it to be a real pizza marguerite. Book a table now
