Visited after a wonderful walk on the hills behind the pub on a bright beautiful clean day. As soon as we walked through the doors we immediately felt welcomed and things just got better. Very friendly bar service with the option to try before you...buy. Thoroughly enjoyed the Siberian beer. And wow the food. As a vegan I find it difficult to have a decent meal when eating out, particularly in pubs. But here the food really is wonderful. I had a homemade beetroot and chickpea burger with salad. These are also served with a bun and onion rings but they are not my thing. Even so this was so tasty with chunky chips and VEGAN mayo! Very friendly and hospitable Landlord and staff. We entered The Fox after a brisk walk around Aysgarth Falls looking for something to eat and drink for a late lunch. We were initially told that they had stopped serving only for the Landlord to change tack...after looking at our famished faces and he was happy to reopen the kitchen for our party of The food was hearty and tasty for all of our multi generational party and the friendly repartee with the staff topped off a very enjoyable pitstop before hitting the road again. Would definitely recommend and wish the Landlord the best of luck in his growth plans.
An unassuming traditional country pub with a welcome as warm as toast! The food is delectable, the ambiance serene and the service highly amenable. Although some internal refurbishment is in progress, this does not detract from a highly gratifying experience. Excellent unpretentious food, at a...very reason price. I highly recomend the beef with onion gravey Hoagies' and Scampi subs' they are so delicious! Thank you Joanne and Johny for resuscitating the heart of this Fox. I look forward to another visit soon.
Visited here at the end of our holiday and wished we had found this pub at the start instead of wasting our time at several unwelcoming and unappetising pubs around the local area. The couple, who have only just taken over there, are welcoming and...helpful. We were adults and children, all having different meals and couldn’t fault any of them. After hearing about the plans they have for the pub, we will definitely be visiting again when we come back to the Dales.

Lovely home cooked good and really good range of gluten free. Hallomi burger with sweet chilli sauce was really yummy. As was gf apple crumble. Great welcoming service and will definitely come back again. Huge beer Garden out back and also dog friendly as well!...A real pub where excellent hospitality and hostelry go hand in hand.
What a fantastic pub, great ales and cozy atmosphere, perfect location. The staff were fantastic and a credit to the business, welcoming and happy to chat away. The young lady even let me have a Wensleydale pint glass . Will certainly return for a fab...black sheep pint and to collect my pint glass. If I’m area you must call in
John and Joanne do an excellent job of maintaining the character of Blackies while also making necessary renovations. The beer and food are always great, and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. We can't wait for our next visit. The restaurant is also dog-friendly, but not sure about cats.
Had an absolutely fantastic night in the snug area for my Mam’s surprise birthday party. We had it all to ourselves and was so cosy and warm. Great communication beforehand with owners and food was lush. Night to remember! Memories made x

We stopped by for a quick drink this afternoon and found a charming pub with great character. The selection of ales was well-maintained and the landlady was lovely.
