This place is a hit with the locals offering simple pub grub at a competitive price. I had haggis pakora to start which was quite nice but the lot was drizzled with a vinaigrette sauce which was an odd choice. Steak was cooked as requested and nice and tender but the lot was very greasy. Dessert was a sticky toffee pudding, nothing to write home about and poorly presented. All in all it’s old fashioned cooking, nothing wrong with it but I wouldn’t rush back! Staff were very friendly but many seemed fairly inexperienced (we all have to start somewhere : . Decor was ok but overall the place was a little dogeared and untidy.
We were extremely disappointed with our dining experience tonight, as we were celebrating a special birthday. Despite enjoying our starters and receiving prompt service, things took a turn for the worse when the birthday girl found a long black hair in her roast dinner. Despite informing the owner, they rudely dismissed us and accused her of planting the hair herself. The poor service and false accusation have unfortunately deterred us from returning to this restaurant in the future.
This is now one of our small groups go to places for a meal. Our last visit was for our group Christmas lunch, and all agreed they had another great meal. The 'whole tail scampi ' is a misrepresentation, it was more like frozen processed fish coujons .also 1 guest had fish but a good portion was batter only Prices are good but would rather have better quality with an extra or so. Found this place on way home and had a lovely impromptu meal. The chinese chicken curry and steak pie were very good and piping hot. Not huge portions but plenty. We had double nougat wafers for dessert. Excellent value, good menu and the staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
Loved this place inside was lovely staff were really nice the food was delicious I had steak pie chips veg my partner had fish chips very generous portion will definitely go again as that was our first visit. The decor is lovely it is just very inviting Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5
Unfortunately tasty enough food convivial atmosphere. Last here pre covid visited again 15th November 2023 same issue cold steak pie served on cold plates and cheap horrible pots of tea. Hence no tip visit ruined, sadly waste of money and disappointment.
