After waiting until the last minute to book a restaurant in Chester, I decided to try The Handbridge, as it was just a short walk from the city center. Upon entering, I found the place to be quite calm, but I must say that both the food and service were excellent. It's a pity there wasn't a livelier atmosphere. I imagine that on a busier night outside of January, the place would have a lot more energy, given the quality of the food.
I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. It took 30 minutes just to take our order, and then we waited an additional 45 minutes for our food, which wasn't even correct. We were one of the few tables, so it wasn't due to a busy night. The menu was not vegetarian-friendly, even though it suggested otherwise online. Additionally, the food lacked flavor and needed salt to be enjoyable. I cannot recommend this place.

We dined on a quiet midweek evening, but the lack of crowds did not diminish our experience. While a few items on the menu were unavailable, it didn't detract from our enjoyable night. Sam, the manager, was a wonderful host, providing attentive service throughout our visit.
We recently visited The Handbridge for the first time in a long while, and we were not disappointed. Even though it was quite quiet that evening, we enjoyed a fantastic meal, and the service was outstanding. We're looking forward to returning with family on the 10th!
