This was one of several opportunities I had to dine at the Lion at Leavenheath while over from Australia visiting family. I highly recommend it for excellent food, attentive service and friendly and cosy atmosphere. I am vegan and the choice was extensive and delicious. Took several lots of friends and family over the time I was staying and they all had a great meal and loved the beautiful dining room. This is the kind of place you could have a romantic dinner, a fun lunch with friends or a formal celebratory evening. I look forward to my next visit.
So pleased with our meal and both being vegan was so impressed with vegan menu and quality of food! the lion in leavenheath makes it again, beautiful birthday party and all meals were fabulous all taste directions for (incl large vegan options). beautiful atmosphere and quiet in the esarea for the old. friendly and friendly service. we feel like family.
We enjoyed a pleasant meal with a party of four. The menu options were great, the service was prompt, and our food was served hot. The atmosphere was beautiful, making it a perfect spot to relax with a drink and have a nice conversation.

This was our first visit to the Lion we have tried other venues locally. The staff were very welcoming and willing to please. The experience was worth the trip from south of Colchester, we will be back. Thank you!
Fab food and couldn't resist 3 courses. Attended to by a wonderful bright funny gentleman, i didnt get his name, who couldn't do enough for us including looking after allergies etc.
Always made feel welcomed and looked after very well. Food very good. Just needs some updating to the restaurant flooring as carpet in a poor state.
Fantastic vegan food choices, regularly scheduled popular vegan tasting events. Vegan menu items offered every day. Definitely worth trying!
