My wife and I visited on 21 October and were given a table close to the entrance we both ordered a sandwich which we were enjoying until 3 people came in (all together) with FOUR large dogs which in my opinion constituted a trip hazard. After a few minutes one of the dogs was sick on the floor which obviously put us off our food the dogs were then taken outside by one of the party to wait for the other people. One of the group cleaned up the mess but the place then smelled of disinfectant. We are not anti dogs but there is sufficient room outside to sit with so many animals and it was not raining. We soon left and will not be returning I wish now I had refused to pay the bill but we were so...

This hot chocolate was the worst I've ever had. It was watery and only had 10 small marshmallows. The cake was good, which is why I'm giving it two stars, but I can't stand hot chocolate made with water. The menu said it had 4 scoops of chocolate, but I could barely taste any chocolate at all. I was very disappointed. Why would they serve hot water with a hint of chocolate? I would expect to pay £1-2 for this at a bonfire night, not at a proper restaurant. Just use milk and the right amount of chocolate - it's not that difficult to make a good hot chocolate, but they clearly don't know how.
I ordered the veggie burger with wedges, but I found the burger to be dry and the "wedges" were actually just a poorly cooked jacket potato cut up into pieces. My companion ordered the mushroom and artichoke ciabatta, which was lacking in filling and had overbaked bread that was so hard on one end that it was nearly impossible to eat. The salad was limp and there was no coleslaw as was mentioned on the menu. Overall, we were both deeply disappointed with our meal and will not be returning to this restaurant for lunch in the future.
The worst dining experience ever. As a group of 9 we were asked to pre order, we were then told they didn’t have all that was ordered. They forgot one of the meals, then informed us that they didn’t have it… the waitress didn’t even check that we had the correct number of meals. The 2 x pizza’s were only cooked around the edges and were not edible. After various delays and excuses we accepted a reduction on the bill and all vowed to never return. Hugely disappointing. Looking dishevelled. I was outside under cover and there were spilt drinks in several places. No attempt had been made to clear litter or spillage. Worst was the chairs, at some time a very amateurist attempt has been made to weld the seats but, OH DEAR, what a botch ... the weld is broken and the tubing on the chairs has literally been blown away by use of inappropriate welding. These chairs, and I mean these because lots are affected are, dangerous.
This cafe is dog-friendly and there were many well-behaved dogs during our visit. However, the gluten-free options were limited and disappointing. The choices were only a bacon sandwich, soup, or tuna mayo. We had hoped for a more substantial main meal but the options were lacking and the overall food quality wasn't great. The menu could benefit from more gluten-free options and an overhaul.
Been a few years since i last went in the café and it has changed a bit. Now seems to be more a restaurant with wait staff and being shown to tables. However the coffee and cakes we had were good. The acoustics made it noisy due to high ceiling? as it was very busy. Dog friendly which as on a favoured dog walking area is all to the good for us.
My wife and I enjoyed our first visit here for a light breakfast. We were warmly welcomed and served with care by Kate, Laura and Brett. The location is beautiful and the dining area both inside and outside is cosy and comfortable. Thank you to all the staff for being kind and understanding. Book a table now
Decided to grab a coffee and bacon sandwich for a walk around the woods. Was the worst sandwich we have ever had. Had to be thrown away after 1 bite, and the coffee tasted diluted and not worth the money at all!
Nice enough for tea and take. But never worth planning a visit. They simply close randomly on a whim. Leaving visitors hungry and thirsty.
