Had a sensational evening at Powder Keg just recently. Started in their quaint little bar area at the back of the restaurant (okay, its really a recycled town house but it really works well). The bar tender was exceptionally knowledgeable on the Gins that are the house specialty (over 200 to choose from, plus mixers and garnishes) and was able to tailor drinks to your specific palate - dry, sweet, floral, etc. Not one drink was rejected by our group. And they tend to come in unique types of containers as well. For example, a **** Mary based drink was served in a Campbells Soup Can replica which added to the experience. The meal was also done very well. There is only 4-5 items per entree, main...

Me and my partner visited the powder keg on a strong recommendation and to say we weren't disappointed is a gross understatement! The atmosphere is very relaxed and perfect for a couples night! We were promptly and friendly welcomed to the restaurant by attentive Staff and were showed to an intimate bar area and presented with separate Gin and Cocktail menus. We jumped straight in and ordered the house made and juniper syrup infused gin on tap! The waiter was amazing in explaining to us the process involved with making the drinks! The cocktails are incredibly well balanced drinks, with a combination of sweet and sour and topped with pepper and herbs! A lot of thought has gone into each drink...
Went there last night with two girlfriends and was pleasantly surprised, place very secluded and perfect for clandestine rendez-vous if one wishes so! on the other hand quite buzzy once it started filling around 9.0pm. Food presentation amazing, chips to die for and lets not forget the never ending selection of gins. We shared two entrees, two mains, two sides and a cheese platter a bottle of pinot noir a glass of rose wine to start and one more glass of pinot each to end our divine meal. Everything very well priced, at another place we would have paid much more. The waiters friendly and professional. Cant wait to go back with hubby.
This place has atmosphere plus - and three areas to choose from, the bar, the booths or the restaurant. The cocktails are just outstanding - my simple G&T with rose, strawberry and cucumber blew my mind! We had a selection of starters and then mains of steak and short rib, followed by a cheese board. The food was wonderful, and the service friendly and efficient. Everything felt decadent and exclusive, but with an energetic vibe and not too stuffy - and reasonable prices. Will definitely be back! The Powder Keg is in a Terraced House and consequently very small. The back lounge area is very dimly lit - we had to use our mobile phones light to read the gin cocktail menu. The gin cocktails were interesting (we tried a few) but nothing really appealed. I still like just gin and tonic. However we had also booked for dinner, the food was good, really enjoyable and reasonably prices. The whole afternoon and evening was really pleasant.I would go back.
I consider myself a bit of a foodie, especially with a fair fews friends in hospitality, and TPK still blows me away. The food is delectable - scotch eggs with so much flavour and their take on steak tartare with mini potato chips to add texture is wonderful. Cocktails are innovative, and atmosphere is intimate. Highly recommend for all foodies out there that want to try some place new.
My husband and I went for dinner and drinks last night to the Powder Keg. Inside it is so beautiful, with really great music! We sat in the bar first and had some of the best cocktails we have had! They were seriously good! We later sat in the restaurant and had a beautiful meal, the food was very tasty! A great date night restaurant and will definitely be back!
This place was amazing! I had the lamb and husband had the steak. Was absolutely to die for and the prices were great. We also have one of the deserts and some triple cooked chips and it was amazing. Service was great. The bar man made a special drink for me as what I wanted wasn't on the menu. Great food, great service and great prices ! Book a table now
I drank and dined at this spot for the first time last night with a girlfriend. What a hidden gem. Attentive and knowledgeable staff who know their drinks back to front, unusual cocktails, delicious food (we devoured the sirloin, the lamb and cheese board!) and a funky atmosphere. I will definitely be returning! Big thumbs up.
