I have lived in Canberra for the past 18 years and this restaurant has changed ownership several times during that period. It used to serve ordinary Chinese cuisine, but the new owners have recently made some changes to the menu. What a pleasant surprise! The quality and quantity of the food has vastly improved. I recommend trying their special dishes rather than the regular Chinese fare. We recently tried the Duck Ente special and it was quite delicious. Our group of 8 adults also enjoyed the warm and delicious soup with duck, pork ribs, deep fried fish, silk tofu, beef hotpot, and noodles with mixed sweet double egg. $10.90 for lunch which includes a glass of wine or a soft drink! I'm glad we came here for lunch. Extensive menu, including one on the wall in Chinese, and the prices for the dinner menu all looked pretty fair. Service as friendly, and the...food certainly was fast to arrive. Special fried rice was great, as was Mongolian lamb, salt and chilli squid and chicken dish. Serving sizes were excellent; myself and 2 work colleagues certainly did not starve. We were obviously ahead of the lunchtime rush, but 2 minutes later there was certainly a crowd. You might need to book if you want to make sure of a table. Parking is easy across the road for a small fee.
My husband and I came here on Friday. We ordered the Duck Pancakes as an entree. They were so disgusting my husband and I couldnt finish them. We order this as an entree all the time at Asian restaurants as we love them. But all...they were mixed fine vegetables and flooded with sauce. It dripped everywhere, and didnt have ANY duck in it. We folded them out and searched for the duck, but nothing. Other then that, we had the Mongolian lamb (Which wasn’t all onion so good to see), and the deep fried ice-cream and they were both really good.
My wife and I are gluten and dairy free. The staff especially the lady manager, went out of her way to meet our needs. We liked it so much we went back the next night and ordered different dishes. We didn't go back a third...night as we left to go home (we were on holidays in Canberra). They went out of their way to make my wife just vegetables, that were not on the menu. There was ample food and it was delicious. Highly recommended. As previously mentioned, the restaurant is in Belconnen (Purdue St) not Weston.

Been going here for years, both dining in and getting takeaway. I took some friends here only a few weeks ago as I hadn't seen them for weeks and The Regal didn't disappoint. Everyone was impressed with the food and the prices were very reasonable....Parking is never a problem with a parking lot available just across from the restaurant, and it being free of charge after 5:30. Would recommend to anyone looking for nice, affordable Chinese food. Oh, and try the Mongolian Lamb. It's to die for.
This restaurant is great! They have fantastic gluten-free options and the food was well cooked and served quickly. The whole family loved the honey chicken and other dishes. Even my picky daughter enjoyed four servings of the fried rice, which was amazing. My son wasn't a fan of the noodles, but he finished everything else on his plate.
