I think that probably for a drinker's pub...and for locals it is fine. But for food, we were really disappointed. My wife and I visited this lovely country pub a few weeks back on our way to London. We dropped in on a Saturday lunchtime and found a warm homely pub, with a real fire, real beers and as it turned out real food. We...had Ham egg and chips and although many would suggest it is difficult to mess this simple meal up, I would also suggest that not many do it as well as the Wheatsheaf. my car had a tire trip straight on the road and I parked in the wheatsheaf parking to wait for a recreational vehicle. I was simply shopping and had chilled and frozen foods that are probably affected by the extreme heat on the day. anna. has agreed to put the food in their refrigerator and freeze until it could be collected a few hours later. thank you for your quality being very appreciated!

it's not a good meal. the pub is a bit untidy and chaotic, but this is a real village local. there is a large selection of cask beer and eating is simple and easy. ham, ei and chips were my choice, and the eggs were of the chickens in the garden. the service was friendly and pleasant and the prices very reasonable. maybe not for a first date, but definitiw worth a visit.

the wheatsheaf never stops falling. I have never known such super kept beer, directly from the barrel and always a good selection for different flavors. this pub is a great foundation for the home and away
