I took my great niece and nephew to see Father Christmas at Whitakers Garden centre. I looked at a few different Christmas events and everything seemed expensive. With the rise in the cost of living, I wanted something affordable. Whittakers was the best. It is £10 per child and they get a present from Santa No charge for adults. There is a grotto with moving animals to walk through first. This is lovely. We then knocked on the door. The most amazing Mrs Christmas greeted us and welcomed us in. This poor rating is about a Whitakers cafe staff member which we visited today around 3pm on 21/09/20. Phil took our money and he was very good and pleasant. However the young girl on with him left a lot to be desired regarding customer service. When we sat down we saw her pointing over at us whilst talking to Phil and clearly laughing at us. When she came over to clear tables near us I tried to talk to her to see if we had misjudged her but she was offhand and rude. She may need to go on a customer service course or perhaps get another job! She let Whitakers down for sure.
My husband and I visited the restaurant today for lunch, as we are fans of both the cafe and the garden center. There were two ladies serving, and unfortunately, the younger one with glasses and brown hair appeared to be in a bad mood. She spoke quietly, did not make much eye contact when serving me, and did not say thank you after taking my order. Despite this, the staff at the garden center were as helpful as always.
My family and I recently visited Santa's Grotto and were very impressed. It was beautifully set up, well-organized, and the Santa was very attentive to our son, making his visit truly special. Our son received a nice little toy and had a great time overall. We also purchased some Christmas decorations, as there were many options available in various color schemes. We highly recommend a visit to Santa's Grotto.

First time visit and I'm telling you it won't be our last by far.We had two breakfasts each with Top Butchers sausages X2,fried egg,black pudding,X2 back bacon(no fat)1/2 grilled tomato,beans,black pudding,mushrooms,hash brown,toast and a pot of tea.£19.The best breakfast I've had out for a long time.10/10.Service Fantastic,as were the staff.Well done Whitaker's, you've got it right.
Found this Garden Centre by accident a few months back. It is a small and rather basic place but the cafe is great and the selection of plants outside is impressive! The cafe staff are brilliant and the food is home cooked, tasty and well priced. The quiche is very good and comes with salad and coleslaw. Treat yourself to a portion of chips to go with it! Would highly recommend!
Went to Whitaker’s earlier this month for 2 bags of top soil. Paid £3.99 each for 2 x 35 litre bags of Westmorland soil. Went again yesterday 29/3/22 and found the price is now £4.99 each and only in 30 litre bags ? Total rip off. Will go to Asda in future where 3 x 30L bags are on offer for £10 as I’ve discovered today.
