Located next to both the ocean and an estuary it has possibly one of the best ambience/locations of any restaurant on the Big Island. We tried the Mediterranean Salad, Wedge Salad, Poblano Tacos, and Key Lime Pie. Everything was delightful! We also returned for Happy Hour and sampled the Bar Menu: a Cup of Gazpacho for $12 (which was more like a salsa in a small bowl) and a large Pizza for $12 that was truly excellent.
The desserts are typically served chilled, which is wonderful for a hot beach setting. The Key Lime Cake is reminiscent of an ice cream cake and is quite substantial. The crust was crumbly, while the filling remained creamy.

When the appetizers finally arrived, they were quite underwhelming. The ceviche was mediocre, and the kids’ meals consisted of just a basic pizza, with no sides at all. To top it off, my wife’s drink order was mixed up—she ordered an IPA and received a lager instead.
On the bright side, the restaurant's location right on the ocean provides a beautiful ambiance. However, it seems that the primary focus is on catering to the affluent golf club members. If you’re not a member, I’d recommend saving your time and heading somewhere else where you can enjoy better food and more efficient service.
The Poblano Tacos were fantastic, featuring excellent meat paired with a delightful charred corn and bean salad. Both salads were fresh, diverse, and beautifully dressed, making a perfect accompaniment to the meat. We even tried the tofu option, which was seasoned and prepared to perfection.

We had an amazing experience at Residents’ Beach House. The food and drinks were delicious, atmosphere was incredible with views of the sunset, beach, and Maui, and the service was top notch. Can’t wait to go back!
