The food here was very very good but the service was a bit slow and it took awhile to get our order in, our food brought and get our bill. It was also difficult to get our server’s attention. We saw locals coming in to eat so that’s how you can often tell how good the food was going to be. We had agedashi tofu, California rolls, gyoza and deluxe sashimi, all of which was delicious. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because of slow service.

We celebrated a birthday dinner at Sakura. It was a quiet night with only about 4 tables being serviced. Our server was attentive and very friendly. We ordered the sushi boat for 2. The assortment of fish was very nice and the flavors were delicious. For our bonus we ordered some uni which is our personal favorite. It was very fresh, creamy, and rich just the way uni should taste! We will definitely be back the next time we are in Kona.

Sakura Japanese Restaurant in Kailua-Kona is a true culinary gem. The food is exceptional, prepared with precision and artistry. The sushi, in particular, is outstanding, with fresh fish and perfectly seasoned rice. The service is impeccable, with friendly and knowledgeable staff. The restaurant's location in Kailua-Kona is convenient and the ambiance is serene. Sakura is a must-visit for anyone seeking exquisite Japanese cuisine.

The food is good, although the service can be a bit inconsistent and forgetful during quieter times. We enjoy the Kona Boat and the Bentos. The uni tasted nice, but it didn't look very fresh. However, the amaebi was excellent and fresh. As for the tempura, I hope they change their oil regularly, as the tempura and katsu tend to be a bit darker than they should be. Despite this, we still visit often because the food is enjoyable. Book a table now

First time ever trying this spot out.... I went in to order take out, and the service was great. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Although I didn't sit in to eat, it had a very welcoming feel to it. All booth style seating lower lighting, very easy going. The food was really good too. If you get a chance, you gotta try their tempura cheesecake with vanilla icecrem...to die forParking: Large parking lot with plenty of space

We ordered the Sakura boat and the furikake chicken. I'd definitely have the chicken again, but the sushi didn't quite meet our expectations. The quality was decent for the price, although I found the nigiri had a bit too much rice for my liking. The presentation was lovely, and we appreciated being allowed to swap out a roll. To be fair, we did arrive close to closing time.

Expect to wait a bit, but it’s absolutely worth it! The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively. The gyoza was definitely my favorite dish! I highly recommend trying it! And don’t miss out on the green tea ice cream—it's delicious with a wonderfully subtle creamy flavor.

Was looking for a sushi place and stumbled upon this spot. This place had an amazing lunch menu with varied options depending on your taste. I got the bento box lunch special and my husband got a sushi role special, both came with miso soup that was very good. Staff was friendly and attentive. Book a table now

Good value for lunch. My wife got the sushi and roll lunch and I got a katsu bento box. Both came with miso soup. The soup was too salty for my taste, but my wife liked it. She enjoyed her sushi and I liked the katsu. I could see coming here again.
